So, I'm working on building an "essential library" on the history, operation, function, use and maintenance of the AR-15 rifle system, and all variants.

What would you include in such a library, and why? What have you found to be the most useful books?

This is pretty much all you need.

Molon's posts contain a lot of good information in them.

I have found better and more qualified information right here on M4C than anywhere else. I am interested in the history of the rifle, but that's about it. Function and latest technology is covered here better than anywhere else. However, it is not what it was five years ago around here.

The Black Rifle: M16 Retrospective (Modern US Military Small Arms Series- Volume Three) Hardcover – December, 1992
by R. Blake Stevens (Author), Edward C. Ezell (Author)

Black Rifle II: The M16 Into the 21st Century Hardcover – 2004
by Christopher R. Bartocci (Author)

An unreleased third to this list would be LAVs upcoming AR15 coffee table reference book.

Love the Zediker books, but they center more around building and shooting them ...

This web site covers in detail the M16/AR15 since it was first introduced up through the 1980's.
