It is raining in Monaco and it may last the whole race. Should be exciting.
Race starts in 20 minutes, live on NBC.

Oh my god what a crap show. I hate this race. All the glitz and glamour but the race is a boring as shit parade. Totally fell asleep during the race.

Really? To each his own, I guess. My thoughts were more in line with this:

On the subject, slightly, why doesn't NASCAR race in the rain? Aren't they the only motorsport that doesn't?

Because the cars are too heavy and there is nowhere for the water to go but up into the body and then back onto the tires defeating the purpose of rain tires.

They tried it a couple of times a few years ago in the xfinity series on a couple of road courses but they were basically running green flag laps at caution lap speeds.

NHRA doesn't race in the rain either. That would be interesting....

Because they don't even have a quarter of the stones that a motorcycle roadracer has. [emoji41]

Because it would be too much of an epic sh!tshow to try and run those cars on the banking in the rain. They're reducing the amount of downforce that they can run anyway... Only going to be more sliding after those changes.

Sucks for Ricciardo that a pit stop probably cost him a shot at the win...

I was too busy watching the 24h of Nurburgring.

I watch the starting 10 laps and the final 10 laps of F1, unless it really sucks me in... Generally pull for Haas because the team is local-ish... or Kevin Magnussen, because his dad is a baller. Awesome technology, there's some great racing, but it just keeps getting more boring with the the same top contenders. Prototype/GT endurance racing is where it's at.

He for sure would have come out in front of Hamilton if he had had a normal stop.

What provider and channel are you getting those races on?

......but it just keeps getting more boring with the the same top contenders.

You must have missed Spain 2 weeks ago when Max Verstappen became the youngest driver ever to win a F1 race in his first ever race in a Red Bull Racing car.

I was watching the live stream on YouTube. The /r/WEC sub on Reddit usually has stream options linked in the race discussions. Not as convenient as just watching an IMSA race on FS1/2, but it works well, and there were some great dash streams.

You're right. I didn't miss it, but I did completely forgot. I'll retract saying it's stale, but it's "felt" stale to me for whatever reason.... I guess skipping the middle of a race will do that :P Not having John Hindhaugh calling the race does take away form the experience as well, though lol.

I'm watching Monaco now, though (DVR'd it).

ETA - holy hell, you guys aren't joking about Daniel's stop... wow.

It wasn't that bad a race. Kind of though it was fun, but then to each his own. Sux to be Ricciardo... actually it will suck to be the pit crew at the race debreif. Man the only shitshow was that point stop. How the hell do you NOT know your driver is coming in

I've never liked Monaco. I get why it's on the schedule but it's not racing. How many passes happened on track today? 2, 3 tops? That's not racing. There really isn't even a place to pass cleanly other than at the chicane out of the tunnel. It's just a very expensive and loud parade with only millionaires in attendance.

F1 lost awesome tracks like Imola, and Magny Cours but they keep this snooze fest? Unbelievable. We are subjected to enough Herman Tilke shit without having to sit through a fancy parade.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a bitter Tifoso but I've never like Monaco.

I like it because it is different. But agree that other F1 races are better.

Lot of good ones no longer used: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_circuits
I started attending F1 at Mosport and Watkins Glen back in the 60's and 70's.

It's funny how quickly tracks like Turkey, India and Korea came and went. Valencia was pretty good but dropped off as well.

All I know is if Spa and or Monza are not on the schedule, I riot.

I agree. I've tried to like that track, but don't. Seems like more of a 'who can finish the race without hitting anything' than 'who can pass who more.' Hamilton won and didn't have to pass a single car to do it (and don't call Nico letting him by a pass).

Add in the first eight laps being behind a safety car. Either green flag or red flag the thing, but quit wasting laps!

Daniel would've won easy if it weren't for that stop. 10 seconds in the pits and he came out right behind Hamilton.

Everytime I watch Rally Sport or F1, I wonder how the holy hell NASCAR is a thing.

It's boring by comparison

I've tried. I just can't get excited for hours in a circle. Indycar suffers from the same problem. Round and round we go, why they watch, nobody knows...

NASCAR is totally gay... I don't get the appeal of it. Skittles down the toilet is more entertaining.

IMSA too... A lot of the same drivers/cars and some of the same teams as in the WEC, but domestic racing and it's all aired on FS1/2.

I thought I heard the announcer say those tires pump 18 gallons of water a second! I don't know if he meant a car with four tires or just one tire. That sounds like a lot.

No that's one Extreme Wet tire at full speed on track. That is why they had them run under the safety car. 88 tires will dry the track faster than just waiting for it to dry naturally.

Since we are now talking general road racing here, the sidecars are running the Isle of Man TT today. Supposedly Velocity Channel is the US coverage, but I can find nothing on their web site. Anybody have any insight?

Isle of Man TT is like Monaco for bikes. Except bikes don't have crash structures and 6 point harnesses or HANS devices. Freakin' scary! Major balls on those guys!

Edit: don't see anything listed on Velovity channel for the TT

True! The TT is Everest for motorcycles, as the TT kills several every year.

Set your DVR - Found this about US TV coverage: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2016/05/31/2016-isle-of-man-tt-tv-schedule-usa-broadcast-coverage/

For American fans of the Isle of Man TT, TV coverage is minimal, but at least there is something. Practice got underway Saturday, May 28, and continues through Friday, June 3. Unfortunately, no US broadcast companies will cover the TT practice action.

But come Saturday, June 4 – the first day of TT racing (RST Superbike TT, Sure Sidecar TT), Velocity will provide same-day coverage. The IOM TT TV coverage in America continues through Saturday, June 11. Each of the eight episodes begins at 11 p.m. EST, with a rebroadcast the following day at 3 a.m. EST.

The hour-long broadcast will feature highlights from that day’s TT events, along with commentary from anchorman Craig Doyle, and expert analysis from former TT and Grand Prix racer Steve Parrish, ex BSB Champion James Whitham and TT race winner Steve Plater.

For those who want more, three additional highlight shows that highlight TT practice are available at iomtt.com for £6.99.

MC roadracing coverage in the US sucks. It's been steadily going downhill.
We have DirecTV & I haven't seen a race yet this year. Apparently they moved it to channel 620 & we don't get it. I can't get myself to stream it online either. [emoji17]

The TT is on the short list of things to go to before the nanny state shuts it down.
