Not 4.5 million worth of interesting. I would rather have a one off Ferrari.

Mods, I accidentally hit a report post here. Fat fingers and small screen. Please disregard.

Four and a half million dollars would establish one hell of a NFA collection or a house in Maui.

Agreed. Mostly with the Ferrari comment.

Doesn't even have to be a rare one. I'd take a 458 or F12. And use the other 4.15 million on a lot of other things lol

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

I agree it's not for me but the person that buys a $4.5M 1911 already has all the other things we would buy with the money...

Unless Vulcans personally delivered it in a space ship and it fired death beams, then not interested.

$4.5M?? http://www.trulia.com/property/3227182287--Tbd-State-Highway-34-Osage-MN-56570, this seems more up my alley for that price, its not a Ferrari, but I could get a GTR, and maybe a Steve McQueen Bullitt clone with the left overs.

Christ, and I thought custom knives with Mammoth ivory grips were expensive.

If all I had was 5 million, I certainly wouldn't buy something like that. If I had a billion dollars, I probably still wouldn't buy something like that. I'd certainly have a comprehensive 1911 collection and more than a few original Colt SAA's.

I'd definitely take a run at a .45 Luger.

What a joke. In just weight, a solid 24K Gold 1911 costs just under $50K in today's prices. I've seen Gibeon Meteorite damascus knives go for $2200. The Gibeon Meteorite isn't one piece sitting around that people take chunks off- It exploded in the air and cast a debris field hundreds of miles wide. This is one small piece. It's not that rare and not hard to machine. I am completely failing to see where the $4.5M is coming from, but I suppose as David Hannum said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

Is this FINALLY a 1911 expensive enough for some of you?

LOL

Buy it and then you can laugh at those with 3-4 grand Wilsons and say things like,
well...isn't your life worth more than a few grand?"

LOL

$hit. you don't even need $4.5 million in start up capital to start a nice 1911 factory.

So I went back and watched the promo vid in linked in the OP, I kept waiting to see black liquid pour forth from the meteorite when they cut it in two and infect them all with an alien virus.

But since this is a pair, I think they are fitting for Kung Fury.

I saw these a while ago. I follow Cabot on IG, they have been posting these guns constantly.

IDK how much the rock cost, but to me 45k seems a fairer price. Still nothing i'd pay. But seems more reasonable.

$4.5 million? Not even if was a billionaire.

Laugh all you want. But you detractors won't be so smug when the aliens invade and it turns out that only weapons made from this metal can defeat them.

Wouldn't the ammo technically have to be made from Gibeon Meteorite? That is unless you plan on loading the gun into a larger projectile launcher.

Cool idea, but not worth a fraction of what they are asking.

For that kind of cash it better be a pair of MK23's made from ore mined on Uranus with frames molded from oil produced from the carcasses of an ancient alien race on Mars. With matching supressors.

If I had the money, I suppose I'd buy a pair made from that stupid rock they worship at Mecca.

At first I was unsure if there was justified price here, like price of the meteorite or something.

But I read an article about them and saw the Cabot guy say 4.5mil makes them the most expensive guns ever. So thats where they got the price, F them. I'd love to know what these would cost based on actual production costs plus a nice mark up in line with industry standards.

Does any one have a source on what a rock like this one would cost? Just to get an idea of basic material cost.

A Rolex with this exact dial material is a $4,000 to $6,000 mark up from a standard dial...depending on model. That's around 32mm diameter and less than 1 mm thick.

Here is some prices on small amounts of the Gibeon meteorite. I'd imagine the chunk they purchased to manufacture the frames was not cheap.

There used to be a reality show about a pair of guys who hunt for these in the wild.
