View Full Version : Nobody currently makes a light weight profile 20 inch barrel, 1:7 to 1:9 twist?

AND either chrome-lined or with some other durable bore coating?

Several companies come close but either the twist rate or weight profile is different or it has no bore lining.

I'm just looking for something under $200..not a high end barrel.

First one that comes to mind.

Thanks! So somebody DOES make this. Only issue is..I'd have to have someone mount an A2 front sight block to it. But that can be done. This other issue is of course, it's out of stock, but I'm on the email list now.

I use their 18" gunner profile and I'm very happy with it. Is more accurate than it should be at this profile weight.

I know some places won't do work on surface-hardened barrels like that. So you might have better luck somewhere else, or getting a gov't profile barrel and having it re-profiled. ADCO does it for $80, re-finish included. Will put you over $200, but would get you what you want.

I'm sure Colt has a 20" lightweight? Grant? Scotty? Molon? Anyone know?

ADCO won't taper-pin a nitrided/melonited /QPQ'd barrel. I believe the only option is for straight pins.

Check this out: http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfa16m4gicontourcm1x9threadedchromelined-1.aspx

Fits the requirement, except for price. But Criterion is quality stuff.

Thanks, but the page wouldn't come up.

I ended getting one from Del-ton. All its missing is the chrome lining, but I don't plan heavy strings of fire through it and only shoot new brass case so it should be alright.

I got lazy and just got the upper sans bolt group. I have to say the build is very nice and we'll done. Its also light and swings quickly. (Bcm bolt/carrier and armalite m4 lower) No shots through it yet. Want a fixed rear sight. Probably going to be the DD 1.5.

Weird, but the link works for me.

I put Criterion a step above Del-ton, especially for precision. With a lightweight profile, one shouldn't do heavy strings of fire, anyway.

Enjoy it!

Criterion should be a higher quality barrel. But this should do what I want from it. No plans to scope it. I'll report back.
