View Full Version : What Is Your Approx. Age And Favorite Chuck Norris Movie...?

Ok, first off. I don't want to data mine anyone so just give me a 5 year spread. State age as 20-25, 25-30, 30-35, etc.

We aren't going to consider "Way of the Dragon / Return of the Dragon" because that was clearly a Bruce Lee movie. We will consider "Yellow Faced Tiger / Karate Cop / Slaughter in San Francisco" because even though Chuck Norris wasn't the star, and even had his voice dubbed, he was still completely overpowered the rest of the cast making it a Chuck Norris movie. We will also not be considering films made after he began his Walker: Texas Ranger tv show.

Out of respect for Chuck Norris we are going to pretend "Breaker, Breaker" doesn't exist. If you wish you can nominate your favorite films and what you consider his best film if they aren't the same. If you can't remember all of them, here is a list of the films.

1974 Yellow Faced Tiger a.k.a Slaughter in San Francisco
1978 Good Guys Wear Black
1979 A Force of One
1980 The Octagon
1981 An Eye for an Eye
1982 Silent Rage
1982 Forced Vengeance
1983 Lone Wolf McQuade
1984 Missing in Action
1985 Missing in Action 2: The Beginning
1985 Code of Silence
1985 Invasion U.S.A.
1986 The Delta Force
1986 Firewalker
1988 Braddock: Missing in Action III
1988 Hero and the Terror
1990 Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection
1991 The Hitman
1992 Sidekicks

I am 45-50 years old. Really hurts to type that.

I think his best film is probably "Code of Silence" in terms of story, production values, acting, etc. Ironically it's more of a cop vs. mafia film than a martial arts film. But my favorite film is "An Eye for an Eye." As much as I like The Octagon, Force of One, Good Guys Wear Black and several others, I think Norris really reached his peak ability in that film in terms of martial ability and acting. He would have been about 40 years old when he made it and he was an impressive martial artist.

The film also starred Christopher Lee as the primary villain (how can you top that?) and Mako Iwamatsu as his teacher. Sorta Dirty Harry with martial arts ability takes on the drug cartels.

Really hard to top the fight scene where Norris has his hands tied behind his back. That is some difficult choreography to pull off credibly. Hold your hands behind your back and try to just kick a heavy bag around without letting go and you will understand what I mean. The additional level of balance, flexibility and coordination required are pretty significant.

Now I know some of you will probably want to nominate "The Expendables 2", but I think that would take away from the serious discussion of film that is being attempted.

35-40 and DELTA FORCE!

I had the little inflateable standee that was like a punching bag. I also would run around the dirt field with my Rambo UZI(that looked like a real UZI) and hum the theme song.

I did not realize until later in life that it was a real outfit.

I still love it when he shoots that rocket at the bad guy.

Aside from his martial arts skills, and the general idea I have that Chuck Norris is an all around okay guy, I really am not a fan - but, Lone Wolf McQuade was tolerable. 60-65

30-35. The Delta force. I can still feel the awesome when he gets on the motorcycle and launches the rear firing rockets. So gratifying.

30-35. Invasion U.S.A was fun. Sidekicks was good too, even though it was pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of The Karate Kid with Chuck Norris and Danica McKellar.

I'm 38. Lone Wolf McQuade since it's the only Chuck Norris movie I've ever been able to watch from start to finish and had pre-tubby David Carradine as the bad guy. I respect Norris's martial arts ability but I never have been a fan of his acting.

Winnie Cooper was a'ight but did you know the kid's teacher in Sidekicks was also the VC double agent that helped Rambo?

I didn't put two and two together until later in life. The nunchuck solo was far out.

Plus the kid killed himself in real life. Sad.

I'm 48. I'd have to say that The Octagon might be my fave as it basically kicked off my ninja craze when i was a teenager. my classmates and i would dress up in black gi's and masks, and prowl around parks at night with wooden swords. we tried to make our own shuriken in shop class since we couldn't buy them back then.

I was more of a Schwarzenegger fan growing up but Delta Force, Invasion USA, and Missing in Action were watched a lot as a kid. I don't know if I could pick a favorite.

I'm 35-40.

A quintessential 80's action-adventure flick, everything a boy could hope for in a movie; Texas Rangers, half tracks, MAC-10s, LAW rockets, Karate, fast women . . .

After watching this film I never looked at my parents Ram Charger the same.

Both Delta force movies. That theme song is just so 80's 'Merica!

However IMO Lone Wolf McQuade is his only actually good movie.

Delta Force. Not because I think it was his best movie, but because I think it was the best movie for an impressionable youth such as myself. I still want a black machine gun missile totin' dirtbike.

When he flips the switch on the supercharger and powers his way out of that dirt pit, it's one of my favorite movie moments of all time.

I'm 44, and in grade school in El Paso (often referred to as Hell Pisshole) we used to go the Pershing theater and watch Kung fu and Godzilla double features on weekends. I remember that we could get into the double feature for $1 and another $1.50 got us a large popcorn and a coke. Favorite chuck movie was actually a Bruce movie..."way of the dragon". Lone Wolf was filmed in El Paso, and his house in the movie was about 18 blocks from mine, so this was #2 on my list.

49 - Lone Wolf McQuade, because of the Ramcharger ;) (I have resto-modded one and still wheel it) and Cmdr. Chekote as his co-star. As a CB fanatic still, I DO have a soft spot for Breaker, Breaker though.

lWM for the the win.

I grew up very rural.

If not for Sunday might network movies,
And Saturday UHF,
I would not have seen very many movies growing up.

I have a fondness for those 70s and 80s movies that I saw.

45-50, Delta Force. Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin = Awesome. My Dad and I saw it the day it opened.

Basically the same for me. I remember buying The Delta Force on VHS for something like $80 back in the late '80's. It also got me to buy a folding stock, 16' barrel UZI carbine as an 18 year old.

Missing in Action III

Only because my mom has 1 speaking line in the movie. And Aaron Norris came over and had dinner with us during the production.

If it wasn't for that, then Delta Force. I know I loved Invasion USA as a kid but I can't remember anything about the movie other than the truck and dual Uzis.

Early in my fourth decade on this rock: The Expendables 2.

Kidding. Lone Wolf McQuade.

(Although I've only ever seen it and The Delta Force - LWMcQ is definitely the better of the two, IMHO.)

early 30's and I nominate The way of the Dragon.(seriously I love that movie), but I grew up watching Chuck and would gladly watch a marathon of his right now. Unfortunately, other than The way of the Dragon(watch it regularly), it has been so long since I have seen many of his movies that most of them blend together for me.
