723 & 727 Clones

Almost done done.
The 727 clone on top just needs a new flash hider, 4 position buffer tube, and 6 hole handguards.
It will most likely end up with a Surefire 660L light on it.
The 723 just needs a sling and a light eventually. Probably drill out the extended flash hider and switch to a A2 with spacer.
It's a clone of Larry Vickers Modelo Prison Raid/SCUD Hunter Carbine.

Are there any good sources for those uppers receivers, stripped? I know Bushmaster used to make 723 and 727 style uppers, but I'm not sure if anyone makes something like that nowadays.

DPMS and Bushmaster are the only two I know of off the top of my head.
I've seen new production DPMS A1/C7 stripped upper receivers with rear sight assemblies in a bag for $100 at local gun shows.
Other than calling the two, you could just buy a used upper on GB for fairly cheap and rebuild it the way you like.

As far as a C7 type upper receiver, here is one source. I have not used these, but someone from another forum did mention them.

As far as 727 uppers go, you can use a standard A2 upper receiver. That is what I used on my 727 build. The M4 profile barrel with M4 feedramps works just fine.

Do not get caught up on M4 feedramps. The early carbines did not have them. Some had rifle feedramps while most had none. I can tell you that the Bushmaster C7 type upper receiver does not have feedramps. I have one on this AR.

Agreed, as long as the parts I settle on don't have the misfortune of having a ramp cut receiver and a non-ramp cut barrel extension.
