Grinding/modifying a bcm fore grip?

I went with the key mod bcm stubby fore grip on a kmr rail as suggested by most here. Has anyone tried to remove some of the plastic at the top of the grip so that it matches up with the kmr a little better? I know that I can't get it perfect, but I would like to take a little bit off and narrow it up some.

Question is, would I compromise the grip where the lugs are? Thanks

Which one do you have? the mod 3 (no storage compartment) or short (with storage compartment)? the mod 3 is narrower.

i would not grind any material off because it's hollow inside and the wall isn't very thick.
