I loaded some Hornaday 75 grain BTHP's over some CFE 223 and I am very pleased with the results.
I started off at 22.5 grains and worked up five loads until I got to 24 grains where it settled in very nicely and performed very well. This bullet/load combination seems to be working well for me and it was a great learning experience.
I am very thankful for the information available here and you guys all sharing your experience, Thanks.
This powder is very easy for a rookie like me to work with.

I've only had 1 pound of that stuff. I ran it with SS109s I think. I mostly shoot extruded powders, but I'd grab some more of that if I found it again.

I found that IMR 8202XBR worked so well for me with ANYTHING I loaded it with that I bought the 2 8lb kegs and all 10 1lb kegs my local reloading supply store had. I guess shouldn't say bought, I traded the owner all that powder for a gun I had in stock at my shop that he had his eye on for awhile. Both of us came out good on the deal so we were both happy.

24.5grs with 77gr SMK's and the rifle I shoot them out of is lights out to 600 which is the furthest I've shot it.

I have a couple of pounds of CFE223 that I want to try with that same projectile. I am curious about how temperature swings affect it.

Mark - didn't you say we'd probably see a 50-ish fps difference between summer and winter temps?

OP - thanks for the post and the data. What primer did you use?

Thanks again.

Interesting, thanks for the data.

I bought a bunch of those Barnes TSX projectiles, and am curious how it would do on a pig up close.

in a 223/5.56?
Max charge weight is 23.2 gr. Some go a little over max but is 24.5 a typo?

It's a BCM 20 inch barrel, 1 in 8 I believe.
I'm beginning to buy all of that powder I see. It's very easy to work with and clean burning.

XBR is super versatile. Pappabear grabbed another 8 of that stuff. The words out of my mouth were "Nice. We can use that for anything." (.223/556wise)

Not me. I never got enough time with that powder to know that much about it.

Yeah.. we were getting blow primers with 23.8 using whatever lot of XBR we had. ?? Had to drop it to 23.4
