Tomas is doing a double tap so to speak this year.

He is doing his annual fundraising for a one pill cure:

The second part is the National Capital Area Council gave him the go ahead to plan, set up, and take down the event as his Eagle Project.

It's interesting watching him keep both events separate...the Eagle Scout Project can't be a fund raiser.

The picture is of him at the kick off meeting with the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's staff.

Tomas coordinated with the local radio station. They agreed to sponsor the Walk with PSAs, interviews, and the DJ.....at no cost to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

He is sitting at 28% for his fund raising:

Dude,

I've been following these threads for years and always wanted to donate but never did for some reason. I'm glad Tomas is still doing these things.

Funds headed your way soon. Keep up the good work Tomas.

How cow, Tomas is already a Life Scout??

That is awesome! I am delighted (but unsurprised) that he's going for his Eagle. I wish him good luck on his project and Board of Review.

This is turning out to be an interesting Light The Night. Tomas has been shy to 'announce' this at his new High School. So it has been pretty slow from that perspective. He also had to request permission to skip a Band Competition....turns out you almost have to be near death to miss a competition.

The Band Director finally gave him the go ahead and focus on his Light The Night Eagle Project. Tomas was happy, what Tomas doesn't know is that his band is going to go first and immediately leave the competition. They will be playing at the Light The Night.

Yesterday he was having his final coordination via phone conference with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. He has security locked on, news interviews, volunteers, the route selection......and numerous other actions.

The Director for the Virginia Chapter asked him if he could ask his High School cheerleaders if they could participate....he said that he would, my jaw hit the ground....I really thought that he would say no.

So now he has invited his School's Cheerleaders to cheer on the crowd....... he still doesn't want to go public at the School.

I ask him why and he tells me about AJ, he doesn't want to take away from him. AJ graduated from the High School in 2012, in 2014 he died from leukemia. He has a pretty large following in this area and his parents are really helping others.

Tomas scheduled a radio interview and then pulled his school card.....so he didn't attend:

Only 3 days left, Tomas is hoping to make it to 75% by the time he steps off on the walk.

Tomas' 10th walk has drawn to a close, the rain finally stopped right before the walk began. He did a good job setting this up in the rain, now he has to do the write up for the Eagle Scout Project. He couldn't have done it without all of the help and support of the LLS and the volunteers to include Troop 850 Scouts, Parents, and Siblings. The Girl Scout Troop some individual volunteers and Kohl's.

Separate from the set up; once all of the pledges are in he will have raised just about $9,500 this year, in a large part due to member here. The total that Team Tomas has raised since it began will be $81,857.24.... not bad for for Anna & Tomas.
