Trying to figure this out I have shot a lot of .308 Match Federal and Hornady as well as Military. When I look at the numbers on Sigs new 308 match shooting a Sierra 168 grain bthp bullet according to the charts on their web page. It tells me it will have a velocity of 1805 fps as well as a 1215 foot pounds of energy at 600 yards. while Hornandy Only has 933 ft pounds and 1582 fps velocity at the same range. While they only have a 100 fps difference in velocity at the muzzle. Maybe my PhD ( Plain High School Diploma is failing me but that is just hard to reason out. Anybody shot this yet to confirm?

Came across this the other day about the new Sig arms Match ammo in .308 and 300WM. Dont know about the math at 600 yards compared to Hornandy or Federal all are using 168Gr bullets. This is for .308 from the sig web site.

The Federal and Sig are said to use 168gr Sierra 168gr bthp match king bullets.

Velocity fps
Muzzle 200 yds 400yds 600yds
2700 2318 1967 1805 Sig Match
2600 2240 1910 1610 Federal Match
2600 2226 1885 1582 Hornandy

Energy in Ft pounds
2719 2003 1443 1216 Sig
2530 1870 1355 970 Federal
2522 1848 1326 933 Hornandy

Trajectory in inches from 100yd zero
100y 200y 400y 600y
0 -4.1 -32.8 -59.9 Sig
0 -4.5 -35.5 -105 Federal
0 -4.5 -35.9 -106.8 Hornandy

The performance looks out of sink with the other 2 competitors.
Or maybe this stuff is that good? Anybody shot it yet or got any ideas on why the math is so much better for the Sig ammo?

I have not shot the ammo, or ran any numbers. I'm betting that Sig used a different input in their ballistic program, whether that be atmosphere, or BC or something and it spit out different numbers to put on their boxes.

Yea makes me wonder if the ammo is any good if they cant even get their ballistic tables right? Also why go 168s when most people are shooting heavier bullets?

They may have shot theirs from top of Mt Everest. Lotta ways to get there. I would just shoot it and decide if its worth a darn or not. It has be a better price than Federal, literally the GOLD STANDARD for many folks for factory fodder, and needs to be just as accurate.
