What started out as a Bushmaster Superlight 16" barreled A2 upper as an alternative to the heavier Rock River M4 flat top got out of hand, now it's a full fledged lightweight carbine. I can't believe how light it is fully assembled with the Daniel Defense Lite free float handguard without the light and Aimpoint ML2. I don't have an accurate digital scale so I'm not going to try to weigh it. I know it's a lot lighter than the heavy 16" Wilson barrel that RRA use for the M4. Even fully assembled with the Pentagon light and ML2 and VFG it's still a lot lighter than my other carbine.

The work on the upper was done by Joseph Kiser of Kiser Munitions, he's an awfully nice and helpful guy.

I'm going to zero the sights this weekend and give this baby a workout.

Let the Superlight carbine war begin.

Do you have a weight before and after?

Since I don't have a scale, I'll go by your previous posts where you kindly weigh several configurations of your set ups.

My pre-surgery weight would be similar to this:

My post-ops weight (minus optic/VFG/ and deduct 5.1 oz. weight difference from the vltor(?) stock)

Good looking gun!

Well, thanks to Sam, I got the wife's superlight finished today. I may change optics later, but for now it's done. I have to say that I really dig the little rifle. I may have to work on a lightweight build for myself. I envision a 14.5 lightweight with mid length gas system....

Took the carbine to the range to zero it in and run some close quarter drills. The gun ran 100% and tracked easily, standing 40+ yd shots were easily obtained from the low ready position. I'm very pleased with this set up. I'll definitely use this gun in the LAV class next March.
