I am looking for Picatinny covers that will not transfer heat to my hand. I never had this issue with the plastic hand guards. What rail covers do you recommend?

There are two types for your rail. (Mostly) flush mount that fit in between the rail grooves and others that sit on top that increase the width of the rail and curvature. Magpul has both and is the best known. Every major online retailer has them and likely your local LGS and big box outdoor sports stores. Google it for images and maybe even YouTube for opinions on each type.

Other option is to wear gloves.

I use a combination of gloves and the LaRue index clips.

I use plain old xtm rail covers on one of my rifles, and the knights rail covers that came with my 6920 socom.
