View Full Version : Can steel body armor stop the new M80A1 EPR?

This is the Army's new 7.62mm "enhanced performance round" (lead free green projectile) fired from a 20" CETME vs Armour Wear "AR680 LVL 3+". If you recall, I tested the same ammo against Spartan Armor Systems 3610 GL level III+ composite plate and it perforated the plate quite easily. It's not by any means conclusive, but I thought it was interesting that the shot through the steel plate penetrated less in the water. Of course, you are still dead if you are wearing either plate, but it's academically interesting to me, that's all.

Very cool. I'd be interested to see what it would do to a Level IV plate when ran at real M80A1 velocities.
