I've got an LAR grizzly side charger that's been laying around since 2011, and I've decided to turn it into a varmint/bench gun, then sell it as a complete upper. I think I stand a better chance of breaking even that way, as I've had good luck selling bench uppers in the past. I'm wanting to know from those of you who are into varmint/bench shooting, What barrel would you use, and what twist rate/chamber? I'm thinking a 24'' bull barrel with a 1:8 twist and either a wylde or .223 chamber. I know that would suffice for bench, but would varmint shooters want a 1:9 for the light stuff for pdogs?
I was also hoping someone could suggest some components. I want to use high quality stuff, but I'm hoping to find it on sale. I'm thinking maybe an AR Stoner barrel. Does anyone have any experience with those?
