View Full Version : Benelli - M2 or Vinci?
I know the Benelli M2 is favored for 3-gun competition. With an appropriate barrel, is there any downside to using an M2 for hunting?
Alternatively, is there any downside to using a Vinci for competition? It seems like an improvement over the M2's mechanism, so I'm curious why it isn't used more in competition.
Thanks!
An excellent version for hunting is the Super Black Eagle II.

Vinci was designed for duck hunting, no downside. We made one all Tacticool. It ran great, just the standard Vinci doesn't like 2 3/4" shells that much at times
My wife thinks I only have 3 guns
The Vinci is a great shotgun. I use one for 3gun. I have the 24" Speedbolt version. It tracks well and easy easy to shoot fast. Best feeling shotgun I have tried.
Here's what I like:
1. Barrel and Receiver are one assembly. I think this helps consistency when shooting slug
2. Trigger is better than most shotguns out of the box.
The only downside is adding the extended tube is expensive. I use a monotube fron RCI. Nordic makes a complete assembly as well.
The polymer receiver is a mixed bag. Easy to modify but it will show wear from use.
Here's my Vinci and a view of the modified load port and welded lifter.

Easy M2 all the way
Easy M2 all the way
Yup, I love my M2. My buddies try to use and get all sorts of injuries and whatnot. Benelli thumb, etc. It kicks more than a cheap Beretta but it shoots like a dream.
The Vinci, is probably just as great. If I had another choice I'd go with the SBE that was mentioned previously.
My father has a Vinci, and we've used it for pheasant hunting and breaking clays. We're not very astute about cleaning or oiling it, but it's never missed a beat, not even with "target" loads.
I don't know enough about shotguns to judge, but the Vinci seems to handle well and hit what I'm shooting at...
