After running KMR rails for years, i decided to switch it up and go after something new.

A trip to the tactical LGS yielded the ability finger about 20 rails. Ill admit the ALG almost got my business.

Instead i got the midwest g3 mlok.

Knowing this gub would be run hard, i wanted 100% coverage for rail covers, and was able to get a no metal grip even over the top.

This new model has an anti-rotation key for the upper to alleviate previous issues.

Overall very happy. Easy to install and stiff.

More preview than review, but cool nonetheless.

I like MI's two-piece products, but their single-piece have never been anything I'm interested in. The G3 solves a lot of what I didn't like about older ones.

Is there anything holding the rail onto the barrel nut other than friction?

It uses a clamping system, anti rotation key, and you use loctite green on the barrel nut. Plus the barrel nut is crosshatched. I think they solved most of the studf that had me nervous in previous units.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160902/43f15cfc63cfef5d621916c5546f269f.jpg

The install on these are simple, you will like it. The only instructions I didn't follow are using the adhesive. I have a few thousand through the upper, hard rounds and nothing has moved. Follow the torque specs and you will be fine.

Witness marks on the torque plate and light mount screws? Maybe I'm missing something........

I dont like my stuff coming loose, so even with loctite and a torque driver i witness mark them.

Probably ocd, but thats me.

I have to redo the marks on the rail clamp screws as it has changed rifles. Simple to remove with acetone and q tip.

This is done by some as a check to see if anything loosened. I do it, prevents the unnecessary use of tools to make sure they are tightened. Just another way of doing things. I've never had anything loosen on me when properly torqued and use of the appropriate thread locker if required. I'm not an engineer but there's tons of info on torque specs and how it should be done and best left to another thread if you are wondering.

Thought that was it, hence my use of 'witness'........

Thank you.
