Set your DVRs, perhaps the greatest samurai movie ever made, ever. Not a lot of swordplay but Kobayashi's masterpiece on honor, duty and loyalty in uncertain times.

If you have ever tried to live by an honor code, when it seems everyone else has forsaken theirs, you want to see this movie.

Might just be the best explanation of samurai values, perhaps second to "Chushingura" (1962), ever put on film.

The only jidaikeki films I'm really familiar with are Yojimbo and Seven Samurai. I see after this airs another Kobayashi movie is coming on so I set them both to record and will be checking them out.
