Full disclosure, I'm not a beginner. I carry everyday and already have what I want as far as EDC goes. Looking to get out of the .45 game as I prefer 9x19 for all my needs, well most of them at least. Thinking of selling my USP to fund something else in 9x19, and my Springfield 1911 for another 1911 but in 9x19; both will ease my reloading and stash logistics tremendously instead of stocking for both 9x19 and .45 ACP.

Kinda leaning toward a P2000 but I am not a fan of the longer than accustomed to reset. I don't want Glocks, XD's, Turkish stuff, or M&P's. Should I buy a compact CZ such as a P01 or wait until the Sig P320 Target is finally available? FN FNS9 maybe? Something else not mentioned?

HK VP9 or Walther PPQ - pretty much top of the game for triggers on polymer-frame semi-autos. I don't know much about the P320, I own both of the other two and have thousands of rounds through each. I tend to shoot the VP9 more than the Walther.

For carry, I prefer a slim single-stack. Walther PPS M2 leads in that category, IMHO.

If you're looking at a game-type gun, I'd certainly be intrigued by the Q5 Match version of the PPQ.

Is this primarily for range and/or competition use? The CZ-75 is an awesome full size pistol, very accurate, great ergos, very good trigger, enough capacity (16+), etc. Also variations on it like the SP-01.

You mention the compact P-01 but say you already have your EDC. Why not go full size? But if you do want a compact, the P-01 or P-07 would be good options.

I have the FNS-40 and like it OK, but if you don't want a Glock, XD or M&P, why get the extremely similar product from FN? If you want a striker fired polymer gun that's above the others, check out the HK VP9.

A 9mm 1911 is fine if you want a large single stack 9mm. I've debated getting one but since I already have a 38 Super 1911 I decided there was no point.

Go for a CZ or PPQ. Both quality handguns with nice triggers, decent aftermarket if that's your thing, and nice support.

The CZ was the first hammer fired handgun that I really enjoyed and the availability of mods for them is almost Glock-like.
PPQ has an incredible trigger and, to me anyway, extremely good ergonomics.

I already have the VP9 as my EDC, but appreciate the suggestion of it.

A 9x19 1911 let's me be able to still have a 1911 in my collection, which I still do want.

At this point, I'd like to collect some certain manufacturers so my collection isn't as bland or narrow minded and I do like compacts as they can be a good alternative for my out of state friends to borrow while they stay here and can carry it themselves since my state allows it so long as they can legally own a gun.

The USP9 is a great suggestion but the lack of a proper rail just irks me. I tried to like the P30 but the trigger was killing my finger.

And the 92 is on my list of things to get, eventually.

Why not the guns you listed?

If you want an sao, I'd suggest an sp-01 with a sao trigger and comp hammer for a nice trigger and accurate gun in a metal frame (if that's your thing). Pretty good aftermarket support is there.

Accepting your exclusion of Glocks and M&Ps (which seems odd BTW), here are best 9s on the market in no particular order as I see it:

Striker: VP9, Sig P320, Walther PPQ
DA/SA: P30/P2000, USP9, Sig P226/229/228, Beretta 92/M9 series

Any one of those would be reasonable. I own all of the above (usually in duplicate or triplicate). However, I have a G19 or 26 on me 90% of the time. That should tell you something.

Sounds good and sensible.

I have a 92 for much the same reason. I like owning one, but I hardly ever shoot it. I find the CZ-75 much nicer in all ways.

For a reference collection in 9mm the #1 pistol you need is a CZ-75. They are awesome. My #2 pick would be a Sig P226, which is another excellent double stack 9mm service pistol. My 2 cents. Compact versions of either one would be good too, as would be the CZ P-07 which has elements of both in its design.

Arex Rex zero 1 is my suggestion for not Glock guns.

And personally I believe firmly what anyone else issues or carries should not be a deciding factor. No offense.

Sounds good. If you don't mind the coin, the Wilson Beretta 92G Brig Tac is an excellent 9mm.

I don't mean to come off sounding like a dick but......

You say you are not a beginner and carry everyday, but still need to ask for handgun suggestions? And then you make the 2nd statement that I quoted.

You don't mention any specifics on what you plan to do with the gun or any "preferences". You would be best served figuring out what you are even trying to accomplish with a new handgun and then doing research, handling/shooting of specific handguns, and then ask some specific questions or information to members who can give detailed feedback of what you seek.

You need to present better information so people can help you. People want to help but but don't say you are not a beginner then ask novice type questions.

Just to throw it out there, I recently handled (but did not shoot) a CZ P09 and P07 while on a business trip in another state. I came away pretty impressed. If I did not live in California (with its infernal handgun roster), I would probably be buying one soon. Well, that and the VP9 that I also handled and really liked.
