Planning on buying a SR15 this weekend locally. It's got the QD Flash Hider, but I'm intrigued by the MAMS. Anyone have any experience with it? How would it compare to something like a Surefire muzzle brake mount?

I've used the MAMS on a 14.5 SR15 and SF brake on an 11.5.

Both perform as advertised, and serve their respective purposes well.

The SF is obviously louder with less muzzle movement.

Choose according to which suppressor you will be using.

The SF Warcomp and Precision Armament AFAB/EFAB are also comparable options.

I have a MAMS, works great, but I wouldn't get one if I didn't have plans to get a QDB suppressor.

Ya, I have a bunch of Surefire suppressors, but I'm planning on buying a KAC QDC suppressor next year after I figure this new 41F out.
Guess I should just get the Surefire brake for now and then move it onto a different rifle whenever the KAC QDC comes in.

But holy cow... when did it become impossible to find a Surefire 1/2x28 muzzle brake for under $130??

I had MAMS on all 3 of my rifles for a short time. They are one of the best compensators out there. The blast/report is definitely less than a pure brake but it does a great job of stabilizing muzzle rise. I only moved away from them because I bought a Sandman suppressor.

I had the EFAB and AFAB on mid-lengths with DD S2W barrels. The AFAB was on an 18" and the felt recoil was pretty much dead even with the Griffin Armament Hammer Comp on a lighter build and m4 barrel with a carbine tube. The EFAB actually had noticably more muzzle jump than both. The Griffin is also can ready unlike the FAB's.

Kinda pointless on a 5.56 but on 7.62 it is just awesome. Seriously, it feels like cheating.

I have a 7.62 MAMS getting installed on a 6.8 right now and am interested to see if it was worth it or not.

I don't mess with 6.8 but it makes 7.62 feel like 5.56.

After experiencing my ACC with MAMS I just had to give it a try on a 6.8. Plus, I want to get a 762 QDC to use on both.
