I have the option of using department issued level III ICW plates in my active shooter rig, or buy my own plates. The issued plates are diamondback tactical, and very light.
Would these level III ICW plates work in conjunction with my standard level II soft armor, or is it only to be used with IIIA soft armor? I've searched everywhere and only see "in conjunction with" soft armor, but not specifically what kind.
Thanks guys

Generally ICW plates are paired with IIIA soft armor for proper effect.

I would buy IIIA soft armor if I were you. II just doesn't cut it as primary soft armor for LE anymore. It's 2016, not 1992. And this is not a dig on you (unless you bought your soft armor).

Only use the plate backers that have been tested with the plate. Mixing and matching is a bad idea.

Contact the manufacturer and ask them directly. You could also ask your departments point of contact. If they know what they are doing they have probably asked the manufacturer directly.
