Heading to Vegas in mid-October to gamble, see some shows and also get re-married (after 36 years:). And yes - Elvis will do the honors:). Wife will be driving in and can easily bring my g26, I will be flying. Is CCW reciprocity worthwhile there, or is it super restricted like here in Illinois? Specifically - aside from schools, post offices, etc., - are many places "posted"? Show venues, casinos, restaurants and other touristy type places? (Do not plan to imbibe while carrying.)

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

http://gsd.nv.gov/FeesForms/Brady/CCW-Permit-Recognition/ Most of the casino/hotels are posted as no weapons.

Signage in NV does not have force of law. I have carried in casino's, etc.. and no one cares. I also didn't broadcast it.

If they ask you to leave or disarm you must do so. Refusal results in LVMPD being called and a trespassing charge. You may also CCW in NV and consume alcohol as long as you do not exceed the legal limit.

Signage only matters for gov't and public buildings.

American Shooters, they are a little less touristy than some of the other ranges. Good selection too iirc.

Do not, under any circumstance, let anyone at any casino/hotel know you are carrying or that you even have a firearm on their premises. Trust me. I learned the hard way about a decade ago. They have a zero tolerance on firearms in every single casino/hotel on the strip.

I knew someone that was caught CCW in a casino... is now blackballed from almost the entire strip. Not worth it.

I was there a couple months ago. The place honestly didn't really impress me

Not true at all. I have a Nevada CCW and carry there. I used to live in Vegas and know people who live in Vegas that carry in casinos as well.

Well thanks for the heads up, from their website it looks like they have some rare guns to rent. Like the Imperial Japanese beltfed, etc.

American Shooters is what I'd recommend too. A few minutes west of the strip. Fired a full auto P90 there once. I don't know if that $40 or $50 was worth less than a minute of full auto, but it was neat.

I like supporting them because they do (or did?) carbine/pistol competitions every month.

I never understood how some "rent auto fun" ranges get so many damn post-samples. They must have some nice LE connections.

I'm pretty sure it's Vegas' gun culture + doing it for the tourism, which helps everyone.

Been to Battlefield Vegas twice, had fun and watched a guy get to run over a car with a tank. My wife and I both had fun shooting and all the guys were very helpful.

"Home carry
You cannot carry concealed without a permit at home or on your own private property. Concealed carry requires a permit anywhere in the state. Technically, a firearm, loaded or unloaded, carried in bag or case is illegal without a permit."

Seriously?

I left a Vegas about a year ago after residing there for 10'ish years. I carried in the vast majority of casinos and never had an issue, not once, not ever, no bullshit. Why? Because my gun was "concealed." Signage does not carry the weight of law in Nevada, I never bothered looking for one, and doesn't mean squat.

Oddly enough the BAC for concealed carry is .10, while DUI is .08, like the rest of the country. Somebody was asleep at the wheel when the Feds changed the rules for driving and didn't amend the CCW stuff.

If you're up for some gun training I'd recommend PFC Training: http://www.pfctraining.com

And if you're into BJJ, or want to give it a try, I would highly recommend Sergio Penha's: http://sergiopenha.com

A few other tips off the top of my head... Avoid the downtown/Fremont area and the North end of the Strip, by Circus Circus/Stratosphere, etc. Lots of crime in and around that area. Most areas in the vicinity of the Strip aren't bad; stick to where there's lots of people and you'll be fine.

So I'm a liar? If what I said isn't true there's not too many other options. I've had personal experience to draw from including the head of casino/hotel security accompanied by two of Vegas Metro's finest in yellow at my hotel door to secure my firearms in a private safe in the bowels of the hotel that I had to be escorted to to retrieve whenever we left & returned. Your reciprocity means jack snap to the actual casino/hotel which is why I strongly urged anyone to follow the concealed means concealed school of thought to avoid a potential situation. You're welcome to call casino managers to verify what I've said and you're also welcome to do whatever you want to your own detriment in the face of my advice but don't call me a liar because I'm not giving 3rd party info here as fact. I'm speaking for first hand knowledge having visited Vegas well over a dozen times.

I clicked hoping for the other kind of BJJ.

Then they are doofuses. While not a crime, they will more then likely get blacked balled from most of them if caught.

Plenty of that in Vegas too. ;) Friendly reminder that prostitution is legal in the state of Nevada, with the exception of Clark County. Las Vegas is within Clark County, making prostitution illegal, even though it's everywhere. Buyer beware.

American Shooters gets my vote, as well.

As far as CCW, I would have written the same thing as Iraqgunz. Never been asked or hassled. I usually don't notice the signs anyway.

Also, I'd fly with the gun. Unless you want your wife to have it for protection. I've been surprised at how easy and consistent it's been flying with guns for the last several years. I think it was more difficult before, when some airlines or airports had different rules, standards or procedures.
