I have a small yet unimpressive collection of bayonets from various countries. I'm registered with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and their webstore lists various surplus items for sale, so I ordered this M7 bayonet. Came in a somewhat smelly/moldy old package and outer carton label reads:

1005-00-017-9701
Bayonet w/Scabbard, M-7
1 EA CC-A
A-1/77 C-14

Not sure what the "C-14" means, but everything else seems standard. The bayonet itself was made just after withdrawal of all US ground forces from Vietnam (marked "A-4/74"), so it's kind of a "moldy oldie" conversation piece. Bayonet itself is stamped "US M7" and "IMPERIAL". So a fairly common manufacturer.

I take it that bayonets are out of US usage altogether?

Negative. The Marine Corps is still an ardent believer in the Bayonet and it actively trains and equips Marines with them. There was a bayonet charge about 10 years ago IIRC.

If Charlie over runs your position you either run or run them through with your bayonet. I doubt that will ever change.

I have nearly every example of WW2 Garand bayonet produced. CMP had scads of them a few years ago and I couldn't resist. Along with a few others here and there, both modern and historical.

One example, that is pretty old, pictured below. The other, not so old.

That's the model bayonet I carried in the Corps. I loved it. It scared the shit out of me and comforted me at the same time. I snapped it on many times. Never used it but it was comforting to know it was there. How much was it with shipping?

I still need a long 1903 Springfield bayonet.

This thread reminds me I've been meaning to pick up an OKC 3A for my 5910A1, for when the Deadites and Graboids show up.

I still need a 1903 Springfield. It's been on the list for a while, but the newer stuff interests me more and I consider the 1917 to be a better shooter.

Have both, have bayonets for both (technically), but I need an original long blade '03 bayonet. What's worse, I still need a Winchester 97 trench gun because technically my 1917 Enfield bayonet fits on that too.

Really wish original Winchester 97 trench guns didn't command the prices they do. And I also need a Johnson rifle while we are at it, but again...same problem.

I love me some bayonets! Here are my longer set ups, top to bottom Type 38, 1916 Gewehr 98, swiss M1871 Vetterli, Berthier M16.

Curious which do you find a better shooter?

I like the sights better on my Eddystone 1917 but my 03 Mark I is probably more accurate. I think if one were to mount the same scope on both the Springfield would prove to be the more accurate rifle but thankfully neither are drilled and tapped.

The 1917 is nicer to shoot with a better action (at least to me) and the difference in accuracy is barely noticeable. It could be nothing more than the fact that I have been shooting 03s longer than 17s and just settle in better.

41642 Another salvo of bayonets for good measure. US cutdown of a 1943 PAL, Aussie 1943 pattern 1907, Brit No4 mkII, Japanese type 30 with field made ID tag and muzzle ring retainer, Italian mod 38 folding bayonet for the mod 1938 short rifle, my grandfathers bringbacks a French MAS 1936 cruciform and a nice matching asw43. Lastly a nicely patinaed matching wkc 1938 in a complete 1940 dated frog.
