So far I've learned the Plastic furniture isn't the best...so if you like Color then why not paint the old romy furniture?

Why would you say synthetic wouldn't be the best?

from what I've read so far the synthetic stocks available are poorly contructed, ie the sling loop attachment, fitment, etc. Maybe there is a more expensive one out there that I haven't ran across yet; this works for now. I have a synthetic stock on the way so I will be able to report on the quality soon

If what you have is working for you now, go for it, but I don't think the comments you've heard apply to the Russian, Bulgarian, or US made versions of that from K-Var.

Tapco is pretty crappy, yes.

agreed. Most parts available for the AK I have seen are almost airsoft grade. Is there a website that only sells the good stuff?

What Scope mount/top cover is this? Which HandGaurd setup is this? Damn it looks good, I wanna head this route asap...

That's a Polish trooper with his wz-96 Beryl. It's not a set up that you can really replicate here in the US.

DPH has a mount kind of like that, but it requires you to unscrew the buttstock screw every time you want to dismount it.

Have you taken some time to look at some of the threads here dedicated to the AK? Lots of good information about a practical set up that works, along with vendors.

Try searching "Practical AK".

damn templar, where were you when I said I ordered the UTG rail man? the ultimak upper rail looks like the lo-pro goodness... I got another Trijicon Tr21 to put on my AK but think I will be trading it out for an EOTech 553 instead since the aK has no pin point accuracy. Forward mounted HWS is always the fastest. Anyway, wonder what else your hiding from me... :D

txs for the link btw

sum1 needs to make a sticky for modding an AK the right way with a list of parts that aren't garbage, for those of us new to the AK world. Pretty sure I dumped a good 150$ on parts I won't be using :o

For starters, just put Templar's parts list up...

Well......dude, you ordered that stuff before you even asked anyone's opinion here.....and by the time you did, I wasn't going to shit on your choices.

Next time, just search first, and if you don't see something, ask.

Eotecs are too tall for AK's, they are a poor choice.

Aimpoints such as the T-1 microcan co-witness and give a true cheek-weld.

Indeed I did. I'm an impatient person... Do consider posting a sticky of your practical parts list and as mentioned above, add some links. I'm actually somewhat satisfied with my UTG rail. It's of higher quality than I expected. The rails are not milspec, but other than that it seems very solid and should hold zero fine. The pistol grip is better than factory imo so haven't wasted as much $ as I thought... Txs for your help anyway temp

I noticed there is lots of storage room but mine did not come with a plug. did yours?

Any other AK47 must-haves like the advanced safety switch? what am I missing?
