Anyone ever seen this Gen 2 Glock 17 Grip plate, my buddy picked up a Gen 2 Glock 17, he was going to install a grip plug but there is a plate theat opens up and swings out where a plug would go.

I've never seen anything like that before. I wonder if it could be part of a power module for some kind of electronic device? Years ago, there was a laser which was installed on the front of the trigger guard. The frame was drilled and wires were run from the grip to the trigger guard area to power the laser. I've never seen one in person but remember a write up in a gun mag back in the 90s.

Aro-Tek and Crimson Trace use to make those.

It's possible that it could be an older version for a stock adapter.

Or it could be some weird safety lock system. (I'm spitballing on that one)

It could be possible that it's meant to hold a spare, single 9MM round. It has a sliding type door, almost looks like it is spring loaded, it appears that the insert can be pulled out some. Try fitting a 9MM round in there and see if it fits and closes.

Thats it, sent my cousin who has owned Glocks since they hit the market and had every modification done at one time or another. He knew right away it was the Aro-Tek Crimson Trace conversion, he had one done to his gen 2 19, he couldn't remember the exact price but they were really expensive
