Is aluminum cased handgun ammo less accurate than brass? If were gonna be more specific Im talking about the federal aluminum cased stuff at walmart for less than $10 a box.

Can you shoot a handgun well enough for it to matter?

I have not shot aluminum in a few years, but never noticed a difference. Our state law enforcement academy shot all blazer aluminum for years with no complaint about accuracy issues.

I've shot an ungodly amount of this stuff with complete satisfaction, and my several 9's ate it.

I shoot this almost exclusively in 9mm and 45 ACP. It simply cannot be beat for the price. I've never had a failure caused by this ammo. I've not noticed a difference in accuracy compared to other range ammo. Then again, I haven't really shot much other handgun ammo the past few years. Really, the only time I don't shoot Federal Aluminum is when it's time to recycle the SD Ammo, or try some new. Regarding the latter, I also haven't done that for a while.

For me...

Range/Practice ammo = Federal Aluminum

Self Defense ammo = Federal HST

Haven't found a reason to change either.

I haven't tried with aluminum specifically, but tula actually shot very well out of my gun. Ime, handguns seem to show good results with weird loads. Tula shot better than surplus duty ammo, but also nearly blew my gun up.

In short, shoot it to see how it performs in your gun. Crap loads will still be decent at 25yds or so if your gun likes it. A good load could shoot like crap if your gun doesn't like it.

Please elaborate....was it higher pressured?

Never had any accuracy issues with either Blazer or Independence aluminum, though I had an OOB with some Independence stuff with an overly long round. Either is still high on my list for blasting ammo especially when I can't or don't want to retrieve brass.

This ammo is good to go.
Somewhere in the Terminal Ballistics forum, Ive got a post with chrono info out of a G17, G19 and a G41. Excellent range ammo.

Blazer 124gr is my go-to range ammo for 9mm.

Here's a 10-round group at 25 yards a long time ago.

And a more recent group at 25 yards with my space gun.

My Glocks eat it right up. It's been very consistent and shoots well in my guns. I love it.

It's not unheard of for Russian ammo to sometimes be overcharged. A guy on another forum was getting something like 1450fps out of Tula 380. It was a couple rounds. The rest were fine.

Aluminum cased ammo is just typical range ammo. It won't win you any bullseye competitions but it works fine and accurate enough for practice

Yep, ruptured case. I don't have an issue with the American made aluminum stuff, but shy away from Russian now

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking maybe you actually had your gun damaged. American it shall be

I've shot thousands of rounds of 9mm federal aluminum case and more Blazer than I can remember, never had a reliability or accuracy issue with either.

I haven't noticed an accuracy difference shooting Blazer aluminum 9mm

I've had great success with aluminum cased Blazer .380 ammo. Not a single issue so far.

I've shot a bunch of Al cased 9mm. No feeding problems and every bit - if not more accurate than WWB.

It shot well the one time I tried it. Not the most accurate, but definitely not the worst either. The only reason I don't buy it is because for me locally it comes out to the same price as buying brass cases online.

I have not noticed a difference in the accuracy of Aluminum case vs off the shelf brass case. This isn't match grade ammo but it's perfectly fine for training or practice. I've ran both Federal and Blazer without issues.

Fine for blastin' ammo. It does not take well to long-term storage, though. Under less than ideal storage conditions, the aluminum cases will oxidize over time and allow air/moisture contamination.

In a defensive pistol, most people cannot tell the difference between the Federal aluminum case ammunition and target ammunition. You can keep most of your hits in the A Zone at 25 yards if you bear down.

I shoot a lot of the Federal aluminum case 9mm when I don't have time to reload. I like to see the smile on the face of the Walmart Sporting Goods Department clerk when I say "I'll take 25 boxes."

The 9mm Federal AE 115 aluminum cased ammo (#CAL9115) is uncommonly good for its Walmart retail price point of $9.97. Through multiple cases, it has been consistently reliable in service-grade autos around me. Except for some wholesale options, I don't think there's anything else doing as well at $.20/rd retail.

Is this a Walmart exclusive?

Is this a Walmart exclusive?

It very well may be. I've not seen it anywhere else, online or brick and mortar.

It must be an exclusive as it's the only place I have seen it. Easy to find but it's always barely in stock (1-4 boxes) at my local WM so I make sure to buy out the shelf every time...

This ammo has been nothing but splendid for me. I've switched to buying cases of brass 9mm/45acp for storage and the Federal Aluminum for range trips. Every pistol I own just eats the stuff up, and I haven't been able to get too close to the price online once you factor in shipping.
