View Full Version : Vulcan Arms?
What is everyones opinion on Vulcan Arms Rifles? I think that I know the answer already, i just wanted to get a response from some experts. Thanks guys.
i would say not too good.
i would especially avoid any kind of carbon-fiber ar rifles or parts made by vulcan /hess.
you might stumble across a semi-decent "kit" rifle from blackthorn that may/may not have vulcan parts. these are also spotty --some just OK and some a night mare depending on the parts shipped.
there are better options out there that are just about as inexpensive and these people will back their product if there is a problem.
Opinion on Vulcan Arms? Run like hell. Seriously.
Not to mention, there website is about as mall-ninjaish as it is possible to be.
Vulcan. Hesse. Blackthorne. AVOID. They are liars and cheats.
And they make a .50 cal rifle? You couldn't pay me enough to fire the damn thing, except for tying a string to the trigger and backing up about a hundred feet and behind cover...

There are no shortage of pics on ARFCOM showing Vulcan receivers that split in half....

Did you get one before doing some reasearch?? Dont lie, alot of us have been there at one time or another.
Hell no! My future father in law was given one in exchage for work. It just feels very cheaply made when he showed me and i had never heard of them. I personally have a Bushmaster. And from what i have been reading i might catch some heat for that though. :p Well i hope not anyway i like it and has never failed me yet.
What about their stripped lowers? I have a friend in California who just ordered two stripped Vulcan lowers. He even put 50% down while they come in. Did he just make a huge mistake?
They are "Technology's tip of the spear".http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/anim_whacko.gif
I'm hoping for his sake that the lowers are capable of accepting a LPK without incident.
The lowers themselves break. Easily.
So, yeah, your buddy made a mistake.
Oh, and this was posted on thr.us earlier. This happened on the 2nd round fired from the rifle.

Holy Sh!t.
So I was making the rounds of my usual gun shops this saturday looking for goodies, and ran into a guy that works for me buying a Vulcan. They had 2 on the shelves for $700. Now I'd never heard of Vulcan before this, but any AR selling for $700 right now makes my spider sense tingle. After reading these reviews, I only wish that I could have stopped my buddy from wasting his money on one. Especially since they had a S&W right next to them for $1125.
Run, don't walk! From any Hesse/Vulcan/Blackthorne product you come across!

Nice. Cast in some Chicom foundry, no doubt.

Don't think you'll find a positive post on Vulcan, Hesse or Blackthorn anywhere on the web.

Does anyone know where I can purchase some of these high speed lowers? It would go well with my next upper build. WTF?

The rifle that is so horrid, it gives you pink-eye!
... So I went back to that same shop today and they had a stack of Vulcan stripped lowers on the shelf for $135.
I must have made a face or something, because the guy behind the counter said, "They're MIL-SPEC!"
"Uh huh."
"They're the only ones with lowers left. I can't even get Bushmaster or S&W to answer the phone right now."
"Uh huh."
Maybe it says something that Vulcan's the only one who's not sold out right now. Besides, in spite of the salesman's assertions, I'd just seen two other stores with S&W stripped lowers in stock before going to this shop.
On the plus side, I DID manage to find some black no-window PMAGs today. 12/08. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that this is an early indicator that we've reached the panic high water mark.

Just a heads up, I think their newest name is Velocity Firearms, or something similar.
The fact that they change names so much, is a sign in itself.
