I noticed this on my Colt 6920 socom today. I'm not sure if it's cracked, or just forge markings maybe? I only own one colt, and my other lowers don't have this built up ridge around the inside of the trigger guard. Can some of you check your Colts and tell me if this is common, or if I should be concerned?

Not cracked as the anodizing has filled in the parts that were not smoothed out from the forging.

You do not have to be concerned. But it's hard to say exactly how common it is because the machining on Colt lowers is relatively inconsistent and not very good in my opinion.

When I compare different brands of lower receivers, this is one of the areas I check.

I hear about the lack of detail regarding the finish on these rifles, but mine is quite nice.

Thanks for taking the time to upload the pics. I was concerned that mine was cracked. Forge marks i can deal with.

It's been my experience that if you take a bright LED bore light or flash light and look at the spot from different angles you will see what it is. A crack will normally look like a crack from any angle. An odd machining spot will change its appearance as you "orbit" the spot with the light, as the light highlights different facets of the spot.
