View Full Version : Consolidating rifles for a premium one

I have a burning desire for the SR-15 E2.

My current rifles are mismatched assemblies mainly built around pinned lightweight 14.5" BCM mid-length uppers running on H2 buffers. They're competent "fighting" rifles and certainly gets the job done. I know I won't recover the initial investments on them, probably keep one for back-up and part out the other upper receiver. The lowers will stay in my possession because they are budget mediocre brands so resale value is close to non-existent with the current market flooded with quality stuff for cheap.

For those that run SR-15's in addition to a "normal" rifle, is it worth the premium cost?
I want an SR-15 for the reasons but not limited to: soft shooting SR-15's are known for, reliability, go back to a no-hassle 16" upper assembly, it's KAC!!, political climate may hinder access to get one in the future.

Simple answer- If you really want the SR-15, get it. It's a good quality, refined rifle. You will only regret it if you don't buy one

Given the current climate, I would highly recommend you do not sell any AR's, especially since they don't seem to be low end.

I've never regretted, and have always found buying any "top quality" item, worth the purchase.

Thing about the shit that EVERYBODY wants, it never seems to lose much value in the long run...

Yes , buy one. They are a value for what you get.

I've found that taking the time to save for what you really want has always been worth it.

I have a HKMR556 SBR, LMT MRP CQB, and a SR15 which are all considered high end. The SR and MR are my faves but the SR15 is lighter so I shoot it considerably more... you won't regret it.

I wouldn't sell anything right now. I would save up and buy the sr-15 e2.

I've regretted buying overpriced, but never quality. The panic is about to hit, husband all of your parts for they might be hard to come by in days to come.

If an AWB gets passed, do you think uppers will still be legal to buy? I ask because I'm wondering if I should marshall my limited resources to buying stripped lowers and then building the rest later on when I get more money, or if I should get an upper now also because it will be banned as well. How do you think it will play out?

You'd need a crystal ball to figure that one out. I'd only sell with a direct replacement as part of the immediate deal - before SH I sold a basic SBR upper and waited to replace it, just wasn't a priority - of course after SH it took many months to to that and even then the upper wasn't what I really wanted.

Now is not the time to make big moves unless you have the capital to accomplish it in short order, because anything from nothing to every can change between now and then.

I can't speak to a KAC SR-15, because I don't own one.

Well, surprising event this past week. I haven't gotten rid of the other rifles yet and just purchased the SR15 outright. Softest shooting rifle ever.
Thanks for the input everyone.

I quickly dumped the Magpul stuff (MOE stock and SL grip) that came with it and slapped the BCM furniture I had on hand. The BCM foregrip was easy to modify, got a 10-24 x 1.25" allen head bolt and shaved the Keymod nubs enough to fit in the M-LOK slot.
