Ok so with the upcoming "unknown" I decided a month or so ago to gather up any extra parts I had lying around and get moving on another build. In my last 2 builds I used LaRue Tactical 16" Stealth barrels and for what they are I couldn't be happier. Extremely accurate and extremely well finished, just beautiful barrels, but also extremely heavy. I'm a smaller guy, 6ft tall 165lbs and toting around a front heavy gun at the range gets tiresome which is why I decided that I needed to have a lightweight rifle amongst my herd in case I ended up not being able to do another after the election.

So what I have so far is a Spikes Tactical spider lower receiver with their parts kit installed. The buffer tube assembly is the Vltor A5 system which I run on all my guns and absolutely love. I installed Battle arms development titanium takedown pins along with their Bass Ass safety selector. The trigger is still undecided as to whether I want a single stage or a two stage. I sort of wanted to go with a nice single stage with no grit and an average pull weight in this one but I'm afraid that because I'm used to my Geissele SD-E triggers in my other guns that going from two stage triggers to a single stage may throw me off a bit, but I will get that figured out. Where I'm stumped is the barrel. I'm thinking 14.5 with a pinned muzzle device and lightweight ".625" profile. I have it narrowed down to the BCM Enhanced lightweight and the Ballistic Advantage Hanson profile SS barrel. They are obviously very different barrel setups in that the BCM is a 4150 CMV 1/7 twist and the BA is a SS 1/8 twist. I love the stainless steel barrels in my other guns but my question is how will these hold up to heat and accuracy issues during extended fire. I know that the .625 profile barrels fall off quicker but I am ok with that to some degree for the trade off of the rifle being very light. So which one would be a better all around barrel to use for this project in your opinions? I'm sure most will say the BCM but I would like to hear why it would be a better fit if you think that. Keep in mind I don't do mag dumps and all in all I'm pretty easy on my guns. Im one of those who to a degree babies my stuff so for what I want to use it for which would be a better fit? I'm also open to other suggestions but I want to keep the barrel weight below 22oz on this one.
Thanks for any suggestions guys.

You might look at the Faxon gunner profile barrel. I have a 16" one and I'm pleased with it so far. I bought it for a 3-gun comp gun. Faxon barrels are not dimpled however, so it needs to be drilled for a low pro gas block.

As nightchief states above, Faxon is a great choice. I recently finished a build with a 16" Pencil Barrel and it's a really nice barrel for the money. Shoots great and weighs only 1.2 lbs.

Added pics. I have to get rid of the Vortex and put an MRO on there!

I didn't even consider Faxon so thanks for the info. It really looks like the best choice for what I'm building. Very clean look as well which is important to me as I like the look of a clean rifle. Thanks for the suggestion guys. Looks like a winner. Now just have to figure out whether I want to mess around with a 14.5" and getting it pinned or just go with the 16" and a short muzzle device. I've called several local gun shops and they are all months out to even be able to pin it and I'm also worried about getting a quality job done as I've seen some that look awful. I think I will probably just get the 16" and move on. Really the 16" is lighter than the 14.5" barrels I was considering before this anyway so I guess I can live with the 16".

Great looking rifle. I just got an MRO for one of my other guns and it's awesome. Extremely well built optic. It's going to end up on this lightweight build when it's all said and done and I'll put a scope on mthe gun it's coming off of.

As for the barrel I just ordered the 16" gunner profile Faxon from optics planet. They had it for $165 plus another $5 coupon and free shipping so for $160 I figured worst case I'll have an extra barrel if I don't like it but I'm sure it's going to be perfect for this project. Thanks for the suggestion and I'll keep you guys posted as the gun comes together.

I've got a couple BCM lightweight barrels, and love them. a great value as far as I'm concerned.
