Frontward visibility of Illuminated reticle on magnified optics

I recently observed that when the illumination is turned on in my scopes (accupower 1-4 and NF ATACR 4-16), the illumination is just as bright from the front as from the rear. Is this true with all magnified illuminated optics? Other than red dot + magnifier combos obviously.
