View Full Version : what distance to zero TR21 at?

So I decided to try out a variable optic and picked up a Trijicon Accupoint TR21 in a LT SPR-E mount at a real good price. My other AR's, one having a T1 micro and my KISS gun with irons are set at the standard 50yd BZ. With the TR21 being capable of longer shots but having no BDC, whats a good zero to use for it while also being capable at CQB distances?

Thanks in advance

Everyone has their preferences, but personally, I would use a 200m zero. You could then aim at 300m targets, and use the bottom of the triangle, and for CQB targets, 25 - 50m, it's going to be very close to zero, while only 1.25" - 1.5" high at 100m.
If 200m is too far, or I knew I'd hardly ever be shooting at that distance, I would zero at 100, not any less. Just my 2 cents ;)

I would zero at 100, not any less.

That's what I say. For me seeing the target at 200 well enough to pick a precision spot to aim for makes it impractical for me. But I can do this with a rifle sight radius at 100 yards, no problem.

With a carbean sight radius, I zero an inch low at 50 so I can see the target well, and still have a POI that's right on at 100.

interesting. Since it is a BAC scope I primarily use the 1.25x zoom (until i see something far away) I zero mine for 50yds. at 100yds it shoots just about 1" high. I haven't had a chance to shoot it at the 200yd+ range yet. In the past, most of my kills are at 50-100yds so a 50yd zero just feels good to me and I like to compensate for those long shots I rarely need to take. I would assume at 300yds Im about mid to the bottom of triangle. I would like to try a 100yrd zero too though.

lets us know what you end up doing and where your is hitting on the triangle at what distances when you get it down.

I'd use the 50/200 zero as it simplifies (somewhat) the math for holdovers inside of 300. Beyond that you'll definitely need to figure out and practice these.

A 100 zero would be my second choice, but you'll have to do more math, especially as you increase range.
