What equipment, dies, powder and bullets are you using and what is your favorite load.
I just picked up a Savage 10T tonight and I'm anxious to get working on a pet load for it.
Thanks

140gr vld match for paper, 143 VLD X for hunting H4350, RL17, and Superformance for top speed. 4831sc was very accurate but slower. I can in my rifle swap those two bullets and see very little change in speed or POI. They say IMR 4451 and H 100V are good also but I haven't tried them. I did try the 123gr Amax for a couple hundred rounds they where good but not as good at the extended ranges so I've stuck with the heavy bullets. The 123gr did kill a coyote hit in the chest at 200yards faster than anything I've ever seen it was a thing of beauty to behold.

140 Berger hybrid and IMR 4451 is amazing in my 6.5 Creedmore. A sleeper load with 123's is using Win 760! Seating depth matters, and all the usual precision application.

Single stage press:
Redding
Rcbs
Maybe lee

I use rcbs and redding for what i load. I don't load 6.5 but the better brands are those usually, depending on how small a group you want

Not reloading it but will be soon, so I'll be tracking this thread.

I've been getting Forster dies in the last year or so and they've been good. Also got some from CH but have not quite yet used them (6.5 Grendel).

Start with H4350. It is like Varget for 308's, the gold standard. If you are cheap it is hard to go wrong with the 123 Amax or 143 ELD, otherwise some flavor of Berger. I have wanted to some of the 130 VLD's.

Hornady actually publishes the factory load data for their Match loads on the side of the box. It is a good starting point.

Buy all the h4350 you can find. It's hard to get and the 140 ELD's are awesome bullets.

The 6.5 is a great round for long range. First day shooting my rifle that I build myself I was hitting 700 yards. Also the first time shooting a bolt action that wasn't a .22 lol.

I don't reload yet as I haven't bought dies but I have about 16lbs of H4350 about 1k of 140 elf bullets and about 10k of primers.

Will be loading on a Forester CO-AX whenever I buy dies.

A side note is also stock up on brass whenever you see it as it's hard to get. I bought 600 factory loads of hornady ELD-M to get my brass stocked up.

I'm running 140gr ELD-M with Reloder 17 powder. Using PRIME brass with CCI 200 large rifle primers. I'm not running them hot, only about 2700fps. Accuracy is superb. For dies I use the Hornady Match Grade New Dimension dies with the micrometer seating stem. No need to spend $250 on dies to make accurate ammo. H4350 is nice, but I've noticed no difference with RL17 and actually increased speed with less pressure.

I use the Lee 4 die set. Their finish isn't always the best. I will sometimes take some 400 grit sanding cloth and chuck it up in my drill and polish the inside of the sizing die for 10 sec or something along those lines it's not alway needed and I only do this once. I do get very good accuracy from these dies dispite there cheap price. I have Redding micrometer seating dies in other calibers and if your a bullet swapper like I am in 223 then they are worth the money. If your only going to shoot one bullet out of your gun the added expense maybe better spent on other equipment.

Redding S dies with 288/289 bushing (my brass is necked turned tho). I now seat bullets with a wilson seater using an arbor press. Its cheaper in the long run over the micro dies. The Hornady match dies will produce good ammo also.

Berger's and ELD's shoot great, pick one. Just find your lands and start -20 off.

Most guys use H4350 with fed 210's, its the go to powder/primer combo.

You will need to tune your own rifle, but I would start with 40.5 or 41 grains of H4350, .3 increments. Most pet loads are around 42 gr, but some savage's have tight chambers, so beware.

I sent you a pm also.

I use standard RCBS 2 die set for both the AI and Tikka. The AI uses 42.6 of H4350 and the "old" 140 AMAX. Once the supply is exhausted, I will try IMR4451 or R17 and since there's a few new bullets out, will try them(Nosler and Hornady, Hornady has a 147 out now). I use R17 and picked up some 120 AMAX(couldn't resist the price) for the Tikka. Nothing fancy, size, trim, clean up the mouths, no weight sorting, neck turning, etc and I get 1/2 moa from the AI just weigh each charge to the 10th.(does great at 1k)
I have also made some short range positional training ammo using H4895/120 AMAX and reduced charge data-it's a hoot.

I am running bulk Hornady 140 HPBT, IMR4451 with great results. I bought my dies from Whidden Gun Works and they are extremely nice dies.

Are you over 41 grains like most ? ^^^^^^

I'm at 42 in one rifle, a friend who has the same rifle is a little lower but uses Scenars. I had bad juju at 42.6 during testing, but 42 was good to go and right in the middle of a node.

Whidden Gun Works dies here. Extremely nice. Both my gas gun and bolt guns shoot exceptionally well with 4350 and 143 ELDX and 126 Barnes. Bugholes...

I'm looking to stock up some components for loading 6.5 too. Where is everyone getting H4350 powder? And what's a fair price for it? Is it just me or has it been discontinued?

How much are you paying for once fired brass?

You need to bookmark about 5 different sites and check them daily. It takes about 2 mins of your time. Everyone is going in and out of stock very fast atm.

27-32 is what net prices are. There is the 25 bones hazmat fee that you have to take into account also. The more you buy the better it averages out.

All H4350 is gone atm, but there are still primers avail if you are looking for 210's.

Midwayusa did get some of the new 147's in stock today also, not sure what bullet you are shooting.

H4350 is good stuff. But there are alternatives that are pretty much on par with it and just as accurate. Not worth the headache trying to get the more popular powder.

I picked up a rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor a couple months ago, and have been reloading for it. So far my experiences have been fruitful, and have had little to no problems. For some reason I had a box of Barnes Match Burners, and would never recommend them. From inconsistent OAL of the bullet, to the tips are just rough and beat to hell. H4350 is powder that has eluded me thus far, but superperformance has been really great. I have a few 143gr ELD-X loaded up on top the aforementioned powder, but haven't made it out to the range yet for testing.
I'm using
Hornady Single stage press
Hornady rifle dies
Nosler Brass
CCI primers.

There is H4350 out there. I picked up a bunch of 8#'s last month. You might try the new reloader 16 or imr 4451, but its hit or miss on how they perform. Varget will also work.

I have a bunch of Hornady factory loads now. When I shoot through those, I plan to reload.

Most recipes I have seen call for H4350 and 140gr ELDs. Hard to find a good supply--if anyone wants to share a source please PM me.

Best or rather most consistent primers being used?

I am curious about best dies for accuracy--if it matters at all. I am looking at either the Hornady match or RCBS match dies.

Caught my scale giving me different number for the same load of powder.:mad:time for a new one. Mine was the little digital Hornady one, and advise on a new one?

Classic beam scale. RCBS and Redding make good ones. They are more accurate but more time consuming. Electronic scales are awful unless you spend big money.
