For any of you who have recently purchased a new LE6920, are there T numbers on the upper receiver? Was looking at one at my local shop and noticed no T numbers on the upper receiver. And yes it is a true 6920. Box says "LE 6920 2013 Configuration". Serial number started somewhere around LE503000. I've got a call into Colt but thought I'd ask here.

Picked up my 6920 OEM1 today with an 09/16 marked barrel and yes there are T numbers on the upper. My serial number range is LE4513xx.
Is the upper C marked next to the key hole forge mark?

Yep, C marked next to the key hole forge. I wonder if Colt is going away from them or just pushing them out in a hurry...

I was intrigued so I bought it. I noticed the box states "223 Remington" instead of the usual "556 MM". That and the missing T numbers are the only thing different from my older 6920s

It's tough to see with all the oil but it has "S" stamped twice, just like my other Colts. All internals look like my other Colts too.

I remember when the 2013 configuration came out but I'm not sure if there were any .223 Rem rather than 5.56. I believe they came with the Magpul rear MBUS sight and Rogers Super Stock - but there may be other variations on that theme.

Three questions:

1_ Is the lower roll marked with M4 Carbine?

2_ What is the full part number on the box?

3_ Can you take a picture of the caliber markings on the barrel?

Look at my post above yours.. it has photos of my box (with model number) which is marked 223. The lower and barrel is marked 5.56. It is just the way Colt marks the boxes now. I have no explanation why his doesn't have the engraved "T or top rail" markings.

Yup, in my experience Colt doesn't make mistakes like this with 6920s. I'd be more likely to believe someone engaged in some upper swappage. I have zero experience with any of their new stuff, but I wouldn't have accepted that rifle.

Mine is an earlier serial than his if it is a LE5xxxxx . I just bought it last week but who knows how long it sat in the distributors warehouse. Mine is a LE4xxxxx and still has them. As a matter of fact I looked at a the Expanse 2000 series and I know it had them too. I bet it just slipped by QC. Mine has different forge marks, has a "square" forge mark.

I am stumped as it has the correct profiled barrel for a 6920.

Nope, standard 6920 with Colt hand guard, waffle stock and MBUS.

It has all Magpul furniture now. Here it is in my LGS when I bought it

Good eyes.

I just did some research, LE6920-OEMSS is optional furniture like Magpul matrix or black reaper pattern furniture.

My LGS must have swapped it out for stock Colt parts.
Fine by me, I didn't pay a premium anyway& Colt OE furniture is pricey.

Well, now I need to check my recent 6920 when I get home. I know the label did say "2013 config" and .223, but the barrel is marked 5.56. HOWEVER, I did not check it for T-marks.

Not to be confused with the Colt Precision rifles made under license by another company. (Total Junk BTW.) OEM1 (http://www.colt.com/Portals/0/Specs/2016/LE6920-OEM1.pdf) and OEM2 (http://www.colt.com/Portals/0/Specs/2016/LE6920-OEM2.pdf) are used in a couple of 6920 SKUs as seen here (http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Rifles/LE6920-Series).

I'm not buying into the conspiracy theory receiver swap. I've been using this guy for over 20 years. It's a small (I'm talking very small, pretty much retired) shop. I was in there BS'ing with him when UPS made the delivery. Watched him pull it out of the box, that's when I looked it over for the first time and noticed the missing T marks. I'm sure it was just an accident at Colt. I don't mind, something a little different from my other Colts, I plan on shooting it not staring at it. I'll either let the kids shoot it or use it at work. Just wondering if any of you guys had seen this before.

I'm not sure why there aren't any T-Marks on the upper but, the numbers on your barrel are definitely a legit Colt cage code. I think that they let your non T-Marked upper slide through QC. I think your rifle is probably GTG but Colt will let you know for sure. Let us know what they say when they get back with you.

Serious Question:
I get mostly Colt if it isnt BCM, LMT, nor KAC.
But let's say Colt let one slip, could they T-mark laser engrave the receiver under warranty? Everything else seems in order, but T marks serve a purpose if you are swapping off optics, it is easier to keep your place.

If I were running pure carry handle, it wouldnt be a concern, but if I wanted to use optics it would.

I would think Colt could do that. Has anyome contacted them yet about it?

My box label also has a black border like the others in this thread...yours does not.

Being in manufacturing, these differences make no sense to me unless a change was made from a previous generation. (Like a process improvement or a re-tool).

I'd like some experts to chime in. This seems odd?
