Paper?

I just received my BCM mid length upper receiver group and there is what looks (and feels like) paper all the way around pinched between the barrel nut and delta ring assembly. Anyone know what the purpose of this is?

The whitish yellow is the paper...what you guys think?

My BCM KMR upper was the same as yours. I never gave it a second thought. It certainly hasn't affected the gun in any way.

That looks like grease. Are you sure it's paper?

I just scraped it with a small knife and.......it indeed is grease. Duh! I'm such a noob..first build and all.

Yeah, don't think that is paper. I believe at least from the BCM uppers I have had it is some sort of grease or antiseize that they use when assembling the upper. Mine have had the same thing, never had an issue, and it will wear off after a while. Wouldn't worry personally.
