View Full Version : Suppressors and bore evacuators?

So I was thinking about how and why suppressors make everything dirty...

Are they basically working like a tank's bore evacuator, but on the other end of the barrel and thus have the opposite effect?

From my very very limited knowledge of fluid dynamics... It seems so?

Does this mean if you could delay unlocking the bolt for just a little longer than normal and used a short/long stroke gas piston, it'd be a lot cleaner?

What the hell is a bore evacuator?

To your question, I believe yes. Thats why I run the LMT E-carrier with DI.

Has anyone used the LMT E-carrier with one of those piston kits?

It's the bulge on tank gun barrels. It's a passive device that stores high pressure gas when the gun is fired. After the barrel uncorks and the gas in the barrel equalizes with ambient pressure, the stored high pressure gas evacuates the rest of the gas out the muzzle so when the breach is opened, all that crap doesn't come back into the turret.

Looking at the design, it's almost like a suppressor at the breech end of a barrel.

It also has me thinking about incorporating a bore evacuator into a barrel to prevent excess gas with suppressors.

I always wondered what that goofy nodule was

Me too, all I knew was that it made them look awesome, haha.

This is interesting, although I'd guess adjustable gas blocks are good enough for most.
