I have (2) Gen 2 FDE mags and (3) Gen 3 black mags, none have the window and they all have been numbered with paint marker. The Gen 3 mags have no more than 150 rounds each through them and I'd say the Gen 2's don't have more than 250-300 each through them. I've never experienced a malfunction with any of these mags. The only items I'm willing to trade for are Lancer black 30 rd L5AWM mags.
