Has anyone had a 16 inch DI MRP barrel that they've cut down to 14.5 inch? I have an MRP in carbine length with a 14.5 inch pinned barrel and I'm planning on buying a new rifle length MRP upper. I'd like to utilize the 16 inchers mid length gas system in the rifle length and have it cut down to 14.5 inch pinned. I'm just curious if anyone has done this with an MRP 16 inch and if they had any issues in doing it?

Thanks!

I have. Done by Marvin Pitts a few years back and zero issues to this day.

From back when it was done.

Perfect, that's who I was going to have do it and that's the muzzle device I am going to have pinned.

Thanks

Are there any ill effects on cutting hammer forged chrome lined barrels that have been used? I want to go 14.5" in the future when I come across a cheaper priced URX 4 13" in the future.

Good question, thanks.

Ive had Marvin cut down used barrels with zero ill effects. One with 1500 rounds on it, and another with 800 or so. I don't see an issue, but I am no engineer or metallurgist. Just based on my experience your GTG.
