My neighbor is interested in a Colt Competition that Cabelas has on sale through the 24th.
With a search on here I find that it's not a Colt product but licensed by Colt.

Is it as good as a Colt?
Is it worth the $700 sale price?

I did tell him he could find a Colt on the internet for just a little more.

In a few pictures I found through Google I see the receiver is stamped Hartford, CT.
Does Colt Competition, in TX, use Colt receivers from CT?

The Colt Competition website claims the bolts are MPI'ed and the barrels are not chrome lined.
For as little as he shoots I think he'd be fine with the steel bore.

From my understanding, these are not made by Colt at all, they are made by Bold Ideas out of Texas via a licensing agreement with Colt.

I have not heard anything bad about the rifles however, and at $700 I think it's a fair price.

Search. They've been discussed here. Not well thought of.

PASS, without question. Colt Competition guns aren't Colt guns. Tell your friend to locate a Colt OEM, Colt 6920, or Colt 6720.
