I have a RRA entry tactical with the detachable tactical carry. What do I need to mount an Aimpoint on it.

Hello, Well you can remove that carry handle and I would recomend the Larue Cantilever ring for your Aimpoint. It has a Quick Detach lever on it and it is very nice. I sold my GG&G accucam mount for the Larue... www.Laruetactical.com.

Welcome!

Ditch the "Tactical" carry handle NOW! Seriously! Right now!

There is nothing tactical about its design, and it only limits your optics mounting options. Dont know what RRA was thinking with that option.

Get a LaRue mount for the Aimpoint. There is none better for any amount of $$$. Get a Troy flip-up or a LaRue fixed back up rear sight.

I had a similar upper on my RRA, except my receiver didn't have the detachable carry handle, it was called the UTE (ultimate tactical entry  ). I used this $12 Brownells mount. It was inexpensive, very solid and secure.

It's not as cool or high speed as the quick detach mounts by folks like Larue but it worked.

I just recently switched upper receivers to flat tops and used nothing but Larue mount and BUISs. Now I'm in the cool club.

The RRA TCH is pure trash! Sell it and buy a regular mount for your flattop (like the LT Cantilever). I wish that I could outlaw the TCH's!

That doesn't look like a good idea for consistent, repeatable cheekweld.

It worked, not ideal, but it worked.

Greetings,

I am a newbie when it comes to the AR platform. Recently I acquired an RRA upper with the infamous "Tactical Carry Handle".
I am contemplating of getting an aimpoint soon.
Looking at Alpha Sierra's picture the aimpoint in the mount looks pretty good, at least to me.
Regarding cheeck weld, wouldn't you have a similar issue if the iron sights are lower 1/3 cowitnessed with the optic?
C4, could you elaborate as to why it's "trash" and inferior to a mount? (I am considering getting Larue mount, but would like to know your opinion still).

Thanks,

Andrew.

I really don't think the cheek weld is the problem with the RRA TCH. I don't like them because they are heavy, expensive and limit your options (no magnifier, no NV, etc). You also cannot run and EOTech, ACOG or Scope with it.

Aimpoint GIVES these mounts away with certain Aimpoints (like the C3). There is no repeat zero capability and they do not hold the mount very securely (can spin).

Last week I remembered I had a brand new RRA TCH (that came with my first AR) that was sitting in a gun case for over a year. I put it on Ebay and sold it for $115.

People will buy it, why, I don't know- it is a Piece of Sh$t. The retail on it is $175, and a Larue will only cost you $140.
