What are the opinions on this brand of optic? Price seems good and has some of the buzz words HD GLASS and stuff?

There hasn't been a lot of talk about Athlon on this site, and I don't have any personal experience with them. You will have better luck on SH, I have seen a couple nice things said about the cronus over there. However, for the price they are asking, you are in Razor II territory. I am not sure that falls in mid range budget, so you are probably looking at a different model?

I agree with Romeo , for that price you can buy good vortex or Bushnell scopes. Hell, your close to the budget line of night force SHV line.

Much less risk and better resale of known entities.

There is a fellow over at BrianEnos.com that really likes his Athlon Midas 1-6. Says it has good glass, good reticle, and is daylight visible. It's around $500. That's my total exposure to this scope in the category I'm interested in.
