My Omega just showed up today and I need a cover. It will mostly see use on my bolt 308 but the SBR has a mount too. Whats the best cover out theses days for mitigating mirage

Rifles only HAD is what I switched to after my HMMS caught fire on my sbr with moderate fire rates.

On a bolt gun either would probably work, but if you plan to use it anywhere else might as well get the HAD.

The above is my opinion. I believe silencerco has a cover out that is supposed to be good.

SiCo has their own now, don't know who's making it for them. But they are very nice and also have a high temp version as well !

I have one for my 762SD, seems to work well. However I primarily use it when running my bolt gun, I usually take it off for the semi autos just to help the can cool quicker.

I have a TAB gear cover and I don't have anything bad to say about it. Made in the USA which is a plus for me.

Hmmm...thinking when my can get its freedom paper that a HAD will be in order.
Nice video.

I'd skip the cover for running on the SBR... unless for some odd reason you have a magnified optic. For guns without magnification, I prefer NOT to hold the heat in the can and let it cool in the open air.

I concur on the Rifles Only HAD....No other cover on the market comes close.

Check out Cole-Tac. https://www.cole-tac.com/ I went with them on my 7.62 SpecWar. I like it because I feel like it's able to get a tighter grip on the can then the shock-cord versions. I think the recent covers from SiCo are a similar design.

The issue comes when moving and shooting in real life. I had a suppressor burn the sh!t out of me while crawling through a window. I'm now very mindful with my transitions to a pistol that really sweep the barrel away from my leg.

Well I mean lets be real. A Texan in a suit, cowboy hat, chomping a stogie and slangin' lead. What's not cool about that??

I use one of SiCo's covers with my Omega. I don't notice mirage until the barrel starts to heat up (at this point the can is very hot), so I'd say they work well. The Velcro allows for a tight fit as well.

Good to know, I do have one SBR with an LPV, the others have CQ optics. but up until this point I wasn't planning on using a cąsszaover on any of my SBR's, only on my SPR .

Second the Cole-Tac. Have one for my Omega. Having seen both I'd almost bet $ Cole-Tac is making them for SiCo....

I have the cole-tac HTC. The research I did before I bought pointed me in this cover, mostly for its high temperature performance. The form 4 for my M4-2000 just hit 8 months, so I have not been able to use it, please forgive the "Facebook post" IG. I'll reply better once I've had the opportunity to use it.

Elite Iron makes a great cover. Pretty much fireproof and stays put. I have one on my AAC RangerII and AAC TiRANT.

Check out the previous thread, I bought a manta after reports that it's the only one that can withstand heavy use

Ya know, it was probably in the mid 80s but now I understand why one of our instructors made us hold our MP5s with our non shooting hand while we fired our handguns with one hand. Always thought he was just a little strange or British and that's the way they do it. Back then we were still using that HK 3 point sling contraption and I just assumed it was about muzzle control of the weapon. But keeping a hot SMG / carbine (especially one with a smoking suppressor) away from your body makes sense.

Having seen a couple guys with single point slings accidentally do a package check during a drop transition, I kind of cringe at the thought of a hot 5.56 can.

I don't think so. Mine is FDE and accordingly to SiCo's website, the high temp models are gray.
