I have a 14.5 inch LMT MRP upper that I have never fired. What should I do before firing? Should I run a cleaning cloth down it with some CLP? Does it come oiled? Are there any other parts I should consider looking at to oil before I fire. I have the bolt and charge handle well lubed I think. I am just concerned because I have heard a million times that you should fire them "wet".

I'm far from an expert, but I say just give it a good overall cleaning and
proper lube and fire away. Just don't leave an excessive amount of
lube in the barrel.

I really don't buy all that barrel break in hype, except for precision target
barrels.

makes sense to me, that is how I am going to do it. Thanks.

Here's what Noveske says about barrel break-in:

"It is necessary to clean your barrel well using proper cleaning equipment prior to use of the barrel. We have not found any benefits when using an
extended break-in procedure."

Found here. (http://www.noveskerifleworks.com/barrel_break-in.pdf)

Here is what I did with my new Noveske:
Looked over really well at FFL and went straight to range and proceeded to warm it up with a quarter G of Privi.
I had a good time and fell in love.
