This guy saw an alligator attacking an eagle and actually jumped in the water and pulled the eagle from the alligators mouth.

He stated "he couldn't watch America's symbol die."

It should also be mentioned that the man in question is currently undergoing chemo treatments so he might be at the point in life where "personal values" trump "personal safety."

The eagle was taken to a veterinarian, but sadly it did not survive.

Valiant effort regardless.

He was thinking he was going to succeed. He did get the eagle away from the gator. It did look like maybe it could pull through.

Maybe if he had a stronger understanding of zoology he might have concluded there is probably going to be too much damage for the bird to survive, but in my mind he tried and I respect the effort.
