View Full Version : Magpul Sand Furniture
I'm looking for Magpul SAND colored furniture. I didn't realize how easy it was to dye and now it's all dried up and they don't make it anymore. Ordinarily I never cared about color, but I'm looking to do a fun project.
Anyone have a clue where a butt stock and grip might be for sale?
Has anyone tried to dye the FDE stuff with success as an alternative?
I think a lot of people dye FDE. I never realized Sand was a color that furniture came in. I thought it was just for mags for some reason.
But I'm sure I seen lots of people using FDE. In fact, I thought that was the standard everyone used.
I guess you couldn't use it if you wanted blue or yellow for some reason but I think it is supposed to work well for most earth tones. Did you look through the dye thread? Also lots of YT vids. They dye FDE, FG, etc..
I don't think the Sand furniture has ever been released

I thought the main sand items was the mags, did Magpul ever do the full furniture lineup?
Everywhere I see it online says it has been discontinued, so I just assumed it had been for sale.

I've used Magpul's FDE as a base. Just keep in mind, FDE is a bit more saturated and isn't as straight forward to color. I dyed my stuff to match my mk18 rail and I had to color it green first and then brown -- I don't recall exactly which ones though. Dying it straight brown turned it a reddish color.
I swear I recall sand furniture.
Sand is the most "dyable"

I was going for a goof ball color for a game gun. FDE might be too dark a base. I might actually try using the pink as a base. Otherwise I might just have to resort to paint.

You guys and your reading comprehension. 2015 "coming soon". It's 2017, Hilary lost, stock market is over 20k, and Sand should be everywhere:)
Ha! True, but "Should Be" and "Is Be" are two different be's
Used Rit dye for synthetics on an FDE K grip....was shooting for a bright red but it came out somewhere between crimson and light maroon.
In talking with the magpul guys they stated that Medium Coyote Tan uses a different polymer, it might dye better...
I've done lots with FDE.
