I just got it together, going to shoot it for the first time this weekend. Trijicon has never made lowers, that was a special run done for us by Mega. Other than the logo, its a standard Gator lower.

That's a 10 rounder. The 4 rounder(left most mag in pic) is the same size, the spring has the coils together at the bottom to limit compression.

I just got the 26 rounders, haven't had a chance to test them yet.

Noveske Afghan upper on a stock Colt lower with UBR. Optics are the Leupold MK4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T M2 Illum reticle, Troy front wih XS tritium stripe and troy rear.

Carbine is holding under MOA to 250 meters with Hornady V-max and SSA enhanced frag combat loads. Need to slap my SPR lower on it to see what it can really do but its more than accurate/reliable enough for my needs (hunting/banging steel) as is.

Camo is Brownells Alumahyde II OD with Dark Earth overspray.

Plan to try some of the Accubonds when i get stateside next.

Traditionally I have owned the standard 5.56 AR's from Colt to Bushmaster. I moved to the 5.45 because of ammo availability and after several outings to the range, am overly impressed. The accuracy is par to the 5.56 and I have experienced 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 200 yards with a maqnified 2moa Comp ML3, it probably could go tighter but a 2 inch group will just about bring pain to any target, besides I have only been out twice. That seems a little surprising to me, I am use to traditional reticles but with the 3x magnifier 200yds seems like 100yds. Its a good ride so far. No problems with the corrosive ammo issues. It takes 20 minutes extra to clean using the boiling water method, then normal cleaning with CLP bore foam and then standard break free. Not entirely finished, waiting on the DPMS crush washers from midway to replace the very ugly and useless peel washer that came with the comp/hider. Then the last item will be a LaRue Harris bidod. Pics are standard quality. Any comments are welcome.

A question on the corrosive ammo, couldnt you just spray the barrel down with windex and neutralize the corrosion then just bore brush and swab more than normal? I ask cause this is what i do with my AK. I know when i used to take Nagants to the range, the cheap military ammo was always corrosive, so thats what i did. Little squirt of windex on the way home and clean later.

Krylon camo ultra flat olive drab...believe it or not ;)

Basically, its a rattle can job.

It fills in, spreads out and dries quickly so threads and crevaces have to be masked. I use blue masking tape rather than the regular stuff.
Comes off with brake cleaner, shop towels and some elbow grease.

I either use a hanger and just walk around it or I use a cardboard box.

It can be sun dried or oven cured.

Magpul MBUS, sturdy, well made, easy to use, and price is cheaper then say a Troy, Troy is very good, but wanted to try a Magpul. I had a Troy before but gave it to a buddy. The Magpul sits on my Colt and new 6.8mm upper. So far so good.

Nice rig... should last forever. Plus you can shoot pretty much any load from it which was the reason for the 1-11.25 twist / 5R rifling specs. Plus its chrome lined to boot .

Here's my 6.8mm SBR I put together last winter. I have fired about 2200 rounds since I built it without one malfunction (all handloads using 115 FMJ's/H322/2300fps).

Colt upper receiver with Noveske Crusader 12.5" S/S barrel and 9" LaRue forend, LMT front & rear sights. Colt M16 carrier w/ Noveske bolt. Sun Devil billet lower.
Old school Viet Nam era teardrop. Colt 9mm SMG trigger/hammer pins (cause that's what I had) PRI mag's (20 rounders, 25's are too long). LMT SOPMOD buttstock. Oh, I went with an Armalite flash hider as I feel the others are too much.

It's the rifle I would grab first if there were things that needed to be shot.

I love it!!!
Profile is real close to my DDM49.0. Very well fabricated from 1 piece of 7075 billet. Barrel install was a breeze. I don't know the exact weight, but it certainly isn't heavy. Don't think I'll build with anything else.

Just finished building this tonight! This was supposed to be a "left over parts" gun but i think I went a bit wild with it. I think I want a Foliage Green ACS Stock BUT the standard M-4 stock is very quick to the shoulder. Maybe a FG CTR. I can't find FG MBUS sights ANYWHERE! This gun is surprisingly light (or balanced). I think it has to do with the scope. It is a bit heavy and puts a little more weight in the middle of the rifle.

RRA lower with RRA LPK.

dd lite rails, sei vortex flash hiders, vltor e-mods, tango down battlegrips, mega receivers. .458 is a RRA upper with arms rear and MI flip-up front. 6.8 is built on Mega billet with an ARP 6.8x43 recon barrel, JP adj. gas block, Diamondhead irons front and rear. .458 is wearing a Mk4 2.5-8x36 in a LaRue SPR mount, 6.8 has an Aimpoint CompM4S in a LaRue 659-NV mount. Vtac slings, qd swivel mounts are made by Daniel Defense.

I just had the Rock River handguards Cerakoted by Gulf Coast Shooting; they turned out great! Just a few parts to get still.

Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this. No, it uses a standard gas tube but it has a small set screw w/ allen head to close/open the gas port. You can fine tune the gas sytem in this manner. It works pretty well!

They are both built on DD lowers from Grant at G & R. The one on the bottom is a 5.56 upper from BCM with DD rails, a CTR stock and an EOtech XPS.

This one is my 6.8SPC hunting rifle.

The quoted weight of the barrel ALONE from WOA was 2lb1oz.

The weight after Marvin did his work, INCLUDING a Vltor gas block with set screws & taper pin, Vltor VIS barrel nut and GunKote is 1lb13.9oz

I don't know the weight on the barrel nut, gas block etc. individually.

Old rifle (one year old) new glass. The GG&G QD mount I got was way too low. The PEPR mount was super heavy so I put on the old standard Burris mounts for now. Burris XTR 14 on my 6.8 SPC with WOA match barrel with matching bolt.

6.5 Grendel
This pic was taken on my first trip out after adding some burlap like material. The burlap is held in place with Larue rail clips. It works good but any time it gets in the way I cut it off so there's not much left on the rifle now. I built the rifle from various parts most of which should be obvious. I'm pleased with the rifle thus far.

Here's my little 6.5 PCC, homebuild AR. Upper, lower, and BCG by Palmetto State Armory. 18" SS standard profile barrel by Black Hole Weaponry. Magazine, gas block, and gas tube by PRi. Stock by ACE, shorty entry (because I have shorter than normal wingspan;)). Yankee Hill Diamond Series free float tube, carbine length handguard. Red dot by Simmons in 30mm, but will be mounting a Nikon P223 Carbine BDC as soon as it arrives (was on back order, moved, and the USPS lost it, now I have to wait another month:cray:).

Have not got on any animals with it yet, because my move took me into deer season and 'have not had any time to do anything else with the cartridge yet. However, we'll see what winter brings with predators in Northern NH:eek:. Next builds will be 6x45mm w/ 18" bbl and 20 Tactical w/ a 24"bbl. Mostly to do some traveling p-dogs and predator hunting for retirement:cool:.

I've shot 120 gr bullets up to 2400 fps too and may settle on that as my heavy load for deer and pigs in the woods. Otherwise I have a pretty good 100 gr SP @ up to 2600 fps for a little bit further distance for deer and prongohorn. Why did I go with this wildcat over the Grendel? I have issues with Mr. Alexander among other things. Otherwise it was just a simple case trim, barrel swap, and fireform to get it off the ground. So the price was right with minimal change in parts to an existing AR15 platform and it was an interesting project to me.

The LBC is the Les Baer version of the Grendel right? Heard some pretty good things about it and hope it works out for you. I think you should be able to get a little more umph with it using 144 gr pills, could be wrong (been known to happen a time or two;)). What part of NY? I grew up in Rochester area and just moved from the Adirondacks to White Mountains of NH due to job.

Noveske Afghan upper on a stock Colt lower with UBR. Optics are the Leupold MK4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T M2 Illum reticle, Troy front wih XS tritium stripe and troy rear.

Carbine is holding under MOA to 250 meters with Hornady V-max and SSA enhanced frag combat loads. Need to slap my SPR lower on it to see what it can really do but its more than accurate/reliable enough for my needs (hunting/banging steel) as is.

Camo is Brownells Alumahyde II OD with Dark Earth overspray.

Plan to try some of the Accubonds when i get stateside next.

Sorry its taken me so long to see this. Yes the camo gun is 6.8. I use it for coyote hunting and it is simply devastating. I've had several coyotes run off from decent hits from .223 55 grain ballistic tips (accutips and v-max) so I decided to go bigger. 110 grain V-Max is awesome. 250 yards is the farthest I've hit a coyote with it, granted it was in the head. I hit one coyote in the middle of the body, in the guts. I am certain she would have spun and ran off from a .223, I've seen it happen. The 6.8 dropped her, a few kicks but she soon expired. As far as I'm concerned, this is the round for close to mid-range work on the AR platform. If only ammo were cheaper/available. I feel it will become more available and hopefully drop in price, but not if idiots continue to add gas to the fire.

The lower is a RRA with Magpul grip and ACS buttstock, and the upper is one my gunsmith put together for me. The upper and scope are Duracoated in "Magpul Foliage Green."

The barrel is a Shilen 20" 1 in 9 twist that I found on Gunbroker. We used a Daniel Defense upper receiver and handguard. The scope is a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16 mounted i a JP mount.

So far I've put about 120 rounds through it during break in and so far I'm pleased with the accuracy. I'll start more load development soon......

How does the 204 perform compared to the 223? Do you see much difference in trajectory at the longer ranges? Is OAL of the 204 loads going to be a problem in the AR mag?

Although the longer range ballistics are more favorable for the .204 over the .223, as a practical matter I've found that they're comparable in terms of the ranges at which I shoot most of the time. I don't recall all the numbers offhand, but looking at the .204, .223 and 22-250 at 500 yards, the bullet drop of a .204 will be less than a .223, and more like that of the 22-250...with less powder, less recoil and less bang.

An exception is the superior ballistic performance using 32gr or 35gr bullets in the .204 for those interested in saving the fur and not spending a lot of time sewing the pieces back together. I'm a coyote and fox hunter, but don't care about the fur, so that's not an especially important factor for me.

The length constraints of the AR magazine are no problem. In fact, almost all factory .204 chambers are way too long to allow a reloader to touch the lands with the bullet. I'm not saying that "length doesn't matter" but as a practical matter, a 2.25" .204 Ruger is capable is of more than adequate accuracy.

I've also got AR's in .17 Remington and 6X45, and they work just fine also.

Maybe it's just that for some of us, Vanilla isn't enough....we have to have Strawberry and Pistachio as well.:happy:

Made some changes to this build. changed the barrel out to a RedX Arms fluted SS 16 inch, added the Effin_A compensator, added an Eotech Exps-2, and a Vortex 3x magnifier. the RedX barrel has a rather large gas port ( not sure why, much bigger than my Mas Defense barrel) and consequently has more felt recoil. i just ordered a SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block to tame things a bit ( i hope). The Effin-A comp helps quite a bit though. on the common lower, used my existing Magpul CTR stock and modified a CAA stock saddle to get a better cheek weld.

built another upper around my Mas Defense barrel. wanted to spread the shooting load a bit and see what one, if either, ends up shooting any better. this one has a YHM lightweight forearm, a Sightmark Digital switch red dot (pretty good for $120), with a no name 3x magnifier, and a JP Mickulek style brake. sharing the same BCG on both of these uppers. lower is the same except as noted above. added a couple of pics

I am very happy that by removing the weights from a standard carbine buffer and using the standard strength carbine spring, i was able to turn down the gas from the SLR adjustable gas block even more and got a further reduction in recoil. just what i was looking for

this is my old 5.45 gun. I sold it off to a buddy to rebuild into 5.56 but the bolt had been replaced once with a few other small pieces over 25k rounds or so of 7n6. It had one of the SW 5.45 barrels. Once it got really dirty or one of the modded pmags would start to fail you got to practicing fixing malfunctions a lot. I actually did mind that as I got the ammo stupid cheap. You can see there is a bad lever on that one. I don't use those anymore. I would generally just leave it with irons and then put donor optics from one of my other rifles to simulate using that gun at a much lower cost.

I have a new ballistic advantage 5.45 barrel on a rifle now that is 14.5 but only 8k or so 7n6 left from before prices went crazy.
