RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions came to Richmond on Wednesday and spoke with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners about efforts on combating crime and restoring public safety.

He talked about the statistics of Richmond's murders and the fact that last year's murder rate went up 44 percent, compared to 2015. Session said the Department of Justice will work harder to enforce laws and get criminals off the streets.

Sessions also talked about the use of drugs in the U.S., saying "addiction is destruction" and "we need to stop addiction." He also said "our nation is in the throes of a heroin and opioid epidemic."

Said he may want to put Project EXILE in place nationwide.

Project Exile:

Project Exile
Project Exile was a federal program started in Richmond, Virginia in 1997. Project Exile shifted the prosecution of illegal technical gun possession offenses to federal court, where they carried a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison under the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, rather than in state court.

So forget about repealing GCA if they intend to reinstate PE under those rules.

Not that PE is a bad thing, it's just that they tie it to GCA. It carries some stiff penalties.

I'll be happy when they start prosecuting technical violence and technical right infringement instead of playing thought-cops.

The whole premise of PE looks like a pile of horse-shit.

Edit, the Virginia exile supplement, I could get behind.
Violent felons being heavily prosecuted, etc
