7.62,

IMHO the Eagle/SKD and Eagle M4/M4B chest rigs are a pretty darn good value for the money. Good quality materials and craftsmanship for a reasonable price. If you're looking for one that's a little more customizable I would recommend the Eagle All-MOLLE chest rig which gives the end user a lot more options as far as pouch placement, etc. I would have recommended a custom rig by Diz as his work is top drawer, but he's out of the gear business right now. If you want something a little more high-end you might look into the Mookie War Rig and Modular Frog Rig from John @ Original SOE Gear...his work is pretty bomb proof from what I hear. Hope this is helpful. YMMV.:)

That's a little bit like saying "what's the best automobile money can buy". You'd get a bunch of answers but without knowing specific needs it doesn't mean much.

How many mags are you looking to carry? Do you want to add other stuff, or just carry mags? What kind of retention do you prefer (open top, bungees, velcro flaps, buckled flaps)? Defining your needs a little better will help these folks answer you better.

I think the Eagle FB rig is a great starting point (and maybe ending point) for most civvies.

Shihan,

Do you have a website that I can view your rig and all the variations?

Thanks,

A big +1 to everything mentioned here above!

I personally like the Eagle SKD TAC RIG. It holds 8 m4 mags, pistol mags, accessories and plenty of molle for you to add stuff. SKD tac was running them for 15% off this month, I don't know if they still are. My .02.;)

Here's my selection, Eagle Ind vest. It is configured the way I want. I could not afford Eagle's plate carrier and all the pouches, maybe later.

You said chest rig and not a vest so this is my vote.

Why? It's MOLLE and you can add pistol mag pouches to it, flashlight pouch, first aid pouch etc. It is light, it keeps your AR Mags secure yet allows rapid deployment. It's very modular by design. It's the rig I keep in my "Grab and Go" rifle case. Mine has the 3 AR 30 round pouches, and I have added 4 45 ACP pouches and a Flashlight pouch.

You could add another 3 AR Mag pouches on the front if you wanted.

2nd...It's Eagle!

Best Gear Period.

If you don't mind waiting a loooong time for what you want. A chest rig in the hand is worth two on John Willis' sewing machines.

And anyway, tell me how you determined that it is the "Best Gear Period." Is there a consumer reports article that tells you this? I think in the realm of tacticool nylon there is no "best," only that which meets an individual's requirements with the greatest durability at the lowest cost.

I've been eyeing a HSGI DACH or Warlord V2, myself, but I've heard good things about SO Tech, Eagle, Paraclete, Specter, and probably a few others I can't think of. I'm talking production houses, not custom makers like Diz and Eggroll.

No rocket science here, and you are most correct in that "best" is what suits your needs.

The wait time is due to high demand. OSOE gives priority to Guys deploying as well.

I determined this by owning and using his gear, comparing it to other gear from other mfg's, word of mouth, reputation, etc.

I believe Mr. Willis is/has relocated to West Tennessee and is expanding is operation.
Go here to see some "in stock" OSOE stuff.
