I did some digging around and found that the SR-15 mod 1 upper was kind of on and off with a A5 buffer, due to the gas port being a little smaller. Does anyone know if the same exists with the Mod 2? I'm thinking of pairing my Mod 2 with a BCM A5 lower, however I was told that the SR-15 is designed with a carbine buffer in mind. Any thoughts/experiences?

It works well.
SR15 mod 2 16" with A5H2 sprinco green runs very well
SR15 mod 2 11.5" with suppressor runs with a5H3 and sprinco green just fine

In past threads I thought A5H1was most recommend

Don't know. I just know what works with what I have. I would wager the CQB upper would run with an A5H4 and sprinco green and suppressor

A lot depends on the base ammo and conditions used to compare between them.

Should probably have mentioned that it's a 16" barrel version. The ammo used is usually a mix of PMC .223 and Wolf Gold, along with some PPU 5.56 and GGG M855.

For what it's worth, I've fired over 2,600 rounds through my Mod 2 without any issues whatsoever. The standard buffer setup that the SR-30 lower came with has been working flawlessly.

Yeah I have it mounted on a lower with a standard carbine now, really like it as is. I bought the A5 to try it out, I'll probably throw it on a random lower and experiment with different uppers.

The A5H1 could align better with some of the .223 pressure ammo listed. The A5H2 is good for a base when using most domestic 5.56 ammunition.

I think the BCM kit comes with the A5H0, so I'll probably pick up a A5H1 buffer somewhere. I do have some Lake City 5.56 but I tend to hoard that and shoot my other more easily obtained ammo first. Thanks for all the replies.
