Hello All, I just rcv'd a few 20 rd Magpul P-Mags from Brownell's, & to my surprise & dismay, they appear to be almost white in color ? I ordered the 'Sand' color, which I assumed would be similar to all my other FDE P-Mags. Were these mags possibly frkm an off color lot, or is this the new 'sand' color from Magpul ? If I wanted Artic White mags, I would have ordered them ! Anyone elseelse have this experience ? THANKS

Nope, that white is the sand colored mags, it nowhere close to FDE. I have a feeling they never sold that well, I've got a pile I picked up for a rainy day on sale for like $7 bucks last year before the election, still sitting in the wrapper too.

They take Rit dye very, very well. ;)

That they do. Not that I personally have had a desire to do that.

Anyway, photo showing color difference for anyone wondering.

Yep, the sand mags would be good for an arctic warfare rifle. Which considering my AO? Why the hell not. I need another project like I need another hole in my ass.

I think this was the whole reason they used that color. So the user could make them anything they wanted.

And its a very strong polymer, stronger than black even.

I've been buying Sand PMags since they came out. If they ever come out with Sand furniture, I'll probably get that too

I think they solved a problem I didn't have, a need for a stronger mag. If I was into coloring them then the sand mags are great, I'm just fine with black so far. But I do like that they evolve and put out new stuff, hoping the next widget is something I need/want!

THANKS Guys, For all the replies & dye tips. It's not like I won't use them, it's just I was surprised by the bright color of them. And no, I didn't see the color on Brownell's when ordered, I just grabbed a few to make some of my AR's a bit shorter in the safe. Oh well, at least there still useable P-Mags.

I bought a handful for my 300 Blackout as an easy way to differentiate mags.

Winner winner chicken dinner! I heard the same when they first came out.

Magpul FDE using RIT dyes on a sand mag or other part:

This same guy unfortunately came back and posted a second video saying that he couldn't replicate the color on his next attempt with that formula:

https://youtu.be/gRk0ZE2GoBM

He added Cocoa Brown (which I had to order off Amazon - no local stores carried it), and I still couldn't get a good FDE color with either recipe.

I've been having a great time dying Sand PMAGs but haven't been able to match any Magpul colors yet. I can pretty close to OD green by dying some Foliage and FDE parts, but not much luck starting with Sand. I'm going to pick up a few more Sand mags just for fun before they're all sold out.
