Pepe's creator, Matt Furie, has decided to kill Pepe in response to the memes created during Trump's rise to presidency. The Anti-Defamation League now includes Pepe as a hate symbol due to his popularity with white nationalists and trolls, per the WaPo article linked below. At this point, I am questioning myself as to why this even surprised me these days. I could echo other posts re: sensitivity of everyone to every thing these days, the biased media and its perversion of facts, etc, but I would be preaching to the choir. I am not posting this to start yet another thread that derails into BS hate politics (too much of that sh&t lately) but instead to just let everyone know that, regardless of who they are, using Pepe's image could very well trigger all kinds of negativity from all directions. When everything can be taken out of context for the silliest of reason, we are not safe any where these days, it seems.
